𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 – 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗔𝗖) 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝘂, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 Inspired by the Hong Kong TV police dramas in the 1990s, AC Serene Chiu joined the Singapore Police Force in 1999. She has since stayed on for over 23 years. For officers who have worked with her, you would have known her as someone who is jovial, yet focused, driven and firm during operations and missions. AC Serene Chiu now leads Clementi Police Division, which was recently named the Best Land Division at the Police Day Parade on 3 June 2023. Today, we speak to her to find out what are the ‘secrets’ in winning the award. “There’s no secret in winning (laughs)! But I do like to credit my officers for maintaining a high standard of operational excellence and professionalism. They will chase down every lead to solve every crime they can and ensure justice is served. The Division is outstanding because of its people who give their utmost to keep Singapore safe and secure every day.” “And of course, I would also like to thank our community partners and stakeholders, who have actively contributed to creating safer communities. Technology plays an important role too. We use data-driven approach to identify crime patterns to better plan our deterrence patrols and crime prevention efforts, and Police cameras have been effective in helping us deter and solve crimes.” [To be continued]

𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 The Singapore Police Force (SPF) held the Police Day Parade 2023 on 3 June 2023 at the Home Team Academy. Mr Lawrence Wong, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister for Finance, was the Guest-of-Honour at the parade which saw 650 participants from the various Police divisions, specialist units, Volunteer Special Constabulary, and cadets from the National Police Cadet Corps. Commemorated annually on 3 June since 1971, Police Day celebrates the SPF’s achievements, recognises the contributions of past and present officers, and brings officers together to renew our pledge to serve Singapore and to carry out our duties with courage, loyalty, integrity, and fairness. 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿-𝗦𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝘂𝗼 On 10 May 2023 at about 12pm, Yi Jun and Chong Wei were out for brunch with their family at a coffeeshop in Woodlands when they encountered an incident with a man wielding a chopper. The brother-sister duo recount how they quickly worked together to disarm him before calling for the Police to arrest the man. When asked about how they acted in this incident, Yi Jun mentioned that “as police officers we are trained to look out for security threats and to stop them immediately if we are able to do so. We feel this way even when we’re off-duty!” Chong Wei also mentioned that he was happy that they were able to resolve the incident quickly with no harm done to anyone. “I just wanted to play a bigger role in helping keep Singapore and my community safe, which is why I chose to join the SPF.” #ourpolicestories #singaporepoliceforce #safeguardingeveryday

Majid is a Field Instructor and as the Parade Conducting Officer for Police Day Parade 2023, he is responsible for conducting drill training and rehearsals for officers participating in the Parade. “As a trainer, I emphasise a high standard of drill for parades and ceremonies from the officers.
