Svörtuloft lighthouse in Snæfellsnes Peninsula. On the westernmost point of the Snæfellsnes peninsula in West-Iceland, there is Svörtuloft, a lighthouse, and a 4-kilometer long cliff. You can visit the place when the weather is calm and the tide is low. Visiting this cliff in the summer season provides an amazing view. The formation of the cliff at the Snæfellsnes peninsula is quite spectacular. The dark black lava cliffs attract a large number of tourists from across the world and throughout the year. There is a viewing panel that was installed a few years ago for a better panoramic view. The natural arc by the lighthouse is an amazing part of the cliff. With the stack that stands tall from the sea line, this place looks spectacular. The place is named so because of the cliffs made from pitch black lava. The lava flow at this place did not stop until it reached the cold sea. Read more about Svörtuloft in the link in bio.

Do you want to visit the lava caves in Iceland? The formation of lava caves takes place in a few different ways when come to Iceland. While the traditional, more popular way for lava caves or tunnels to form is when lava flowing in a stream cools off from the surface forming a hard crust but the lava flowing underneath is still active and hence form a tunnel. Another way by which lava caves have formed in Iceland is when active flows and covers a water body like rivers. The lava cools down pretty swiftly and hence form a hard surface. Dyrhólaey is a 120 meter high promontory located on the south coast of Iceland, not far from the small village Vík. Dyrhhólaey was formerly an island of volcanic origin and got its name from the massive arch that the sea has eroded from the headland. The name means “the door hole island” and the name describes exactly how it looks like. The view from Dyrhólaey is very interesting. To the north you can see the big glacier Mýrdalsjökull. To the east, the black lava columns of the Reynisdrangar come out of the sea, and to the west the whole coastline in the direction of Selfoss is visible. In front of the peninsula, there is a gigantic black arch of lava standing in the sea, which gave the peninsula its name. In the summertime, many puffins nest on the cliff faces of Dyrhólaey. Click the link in bio to see all the tours that will take you to Dyrhólaey. Dyrhóley is also the perfect stop on your road trip in Iceland.
