The Destiny of Smoke Smoke finds its destiny according to the fissures in iron, the rise of a chimney. None could turn back to be absorbed by hardwood, at least not by science. Here, temperature plays God, dressing in some thick white smoke, ascending to Heaven. Here, wind plays the devil, changing paths of smoke to carry embers to thirsty pine needles, feeding flames. Smoke doesn’t fall down, but up. An entire world up in flames. This is the destiny of smoke. When the fire’s out in this iron stove, the night grows cold, the pipes freeze and burst.
