Who remembers when I made this Halloween candy holder a few years ago? A nod to one of my favorite childhood movies, BIG. Believe it or not, it wasn’t hard to DIY! Tutorial if you are curious is here: https://www.shadesofblueinteriors.com/diy-fortune-teller-candy-holder/
An outdoor evening Friendsgiving is something I’ve never done, but sounds dreamy right? The dear friends whom I’d invite live too far away to make it a reality, but it’s fun to imagine anyway. Amongst some pretty pictures of this tablescape on my blog today, I share a little about friendship and what it means for me. https://www.shadesofblueinteriors.com/an-outdoor-evening-friendsgiving/
This is my kitchen. The end. 😂
Just in case y’all thought I was done posting my front door... 😉 Nina has been practicing all day her door bell ringing skills for trick or treating. The kids inside have loved it! 🤪 hahaha
Swipe over to see what this room looked like 5 years ago! It’s always good to take a look back in pictures or journals and remember how far we’ve come, but also remember what we learned along the way. A journal entry or picture often reminds me of a treasured experience, ones that I hope my children and their children can learn from one day. Do you keep a record of life experiences besides what is on social media?
Enjoy your Sunday! I love this view, broken microwave and all! 😂 Our kitchen will be gettin a workout today as we always are in here making snacks to munch on while watching General Conference on TV. * General Conference (if you are curious) in our church is a biannual live broadcast of several leaders/pastors giving short sermons, on a variety of topics relevant to today’s circumstances. The overarching message I always get is ‘love one another’— a universal truth. Anyone is welcome to join and watch with us! * Whatever you are up to today, I hope you find time to renew your spirit in some way and remember you are loved and needed!
If you are looking for some cute feature wall ideas for a bedroom, check my stories! I’m sharing a closer look at our master bedroom, plus I tagged some friends in my stories who are sharing what they did also. A feature wall can use a bold color with paint to be the focal point, or it can be what adds visual texture so the headboard/bed can be the focal point. Both emphasize one main wall as the feature! P.s. The night stand build plans are on my blog!
Saturday is the day we wash sheets! I am SO grateful we don’t have to wrestle with daily bed-making in her loft bed....Just zip up the sides and it’s done! This @beddys zip-up bedding on Kaila’s bed is over 3 years old and has held up great! If you are in the market for new bedding, Beddy’s offers 14 return policy for any reason, Afterpay if you want to break up the cost into interest-free payments, and you can use code SHADESOFBLUE for 20% off your entire order! #partner
A year ago was my first attempted installing wallpaper— on this wall. It was much easier than I thought it would be, but I’m glad I chose a 1/2 wall to learn on! 😉 The name is Baker Lifestyle Kamala wallpaper in Indigo. P.s. I built the console table and if you search Modern Farmhouse Buffet on my blog you can get the free build plans!
My front porch is my favorite space to decorate for fall! This year I chose a romantic-inspired theme with fairytale pumpkins, lots of candles, and mums all photographed with the soft light of dusk. I’m joining a talented group of blogger friends sharing their porch and patio fall decor on my blog today, check them out here: @ourfifthhouse @mintcandydesigns @roomsforrent @almafied @liveprettyonapenny @mscraftberrybush @littleglassjarblog @maisondecinq @cityfarmhouse1 @stacyrisenmay @thenester
I built this island with trash storage almost 4 years ago! Originally it had a stained wood top and I painted the lower part white (swipe over to see). Two years ago we upgraded to island top with @hanstonequartz and this summer I painted it gray. All this to say, it’s sometimes necessary and good to revisit past DIYs to make them work better for you or your family! Have a great Monday!
