FEAST OF FIRST FRUITS | He Is RISEN | If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied. But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 1 Cor 15:19-20
PASSOVER | I've been struggling to find the words to describe our first time celebrating a biblical feast. It was beautiful and sacred. All day long we would all take turns saying how much we loved the day and that it was such a peaceful time. The rushing around to fulfill man-made traditions for holidays weren't there so we were literally just reveling in His goodness and His sacrifice. We spent the day praying and talking. Not every moment was perfection, but isn't that the beauty of it? It wasn't meant to be kept perfectly. It was a reminder that Yeshua (Jesus) was true perfection. The spotless lamb. 🐑 "Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new unleavened batch, as indeed you are. For Christ our Passover lamb has been sacrificed. Therefore, let us observe the feast, not with old leaven or with the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." 1 Cor 5:7-8 • #passover2020 #feastkeepingfamilies
This year's ballet awards looked so different, but we were so thankful for one last outing before confinement. 😬 There's something so beautiful in watching Eden and all of the other dancers practice and work hard for this one day. On that day they go before a judge, not in competition, but to show how they've grown in their abilities. They have memorized each step of their dances and perfected each technique. And it may all be over in just a few minutes but I just stay in awe of the beauty and grace and the talent. 🩰 If you want to see 2/4 of Eden's dances I put them up in my stories! #internationaldanceacclaim
We've been been in our rental for 6.5 years. Much longer than we ever planned on being here. We moved into this 2.5 bedroom 1 bath home with a toddler and a 5 month old. And now we have a 9, 7, and 6 year old and a 22 month old. We have continued to make this house work even though our family has grown exponentially. Even so, some days I start to feel trapped and forget why we don't own a home of our own. Our reason? Because we are determined to be debt free and save up a down payment before we buy another home. On days where im ready to quit I list why I'm grateful for this house so here we go. 1. We have a home 2. It's in the best town 3. We have a yard that the kids love 4. We have the best landlords 5. Our rent is great making it possible for me to stay home and save for our future home *Today I'm struggling but at the same time I know that this house was the biggest blessing. We found it right when we were going to have to move into a 1 bedroom apartment for the same cost so we remain thankful every day for this place! Grateful for a space to call home with my family. 🏡
I used to only write my notes about my Bible reading in a journal. I would occasionally highlight in my Bible, but that's it. One day I realized, I want to easily be able to reference my notes...not have to dig around for my old journals. And even more than that, I count my Bible as my most important keepsake item to pass down to my children. And that's saying a lot since I hardly keep anything. I want my children to see what God had laid on my heart throughout my years of reading Scripture. They will see the things that brought me joy and the things I wrestled with. I'm excited for them to see my passion for the Old Testament as well. It wasn't always an area of His Word that I enjoyed spending time in, but my love for it has been ignited. These are the Scriptures that are referenced in the New Testament! The OT is what Jesus references in His ministry. Isn't that incredible?! Anyway, here's a glimpse into my most beloved possession and all the scribblings I have added so far. Nothing fancy, I'm no Bible journaler, but it's relevant to me and my walk with my Savior. ❤️
The PNW has been it's typical gloomy self this winter and I'm struggling hard. Today the sun came out unexpectedly and it's like the light was turned back on inside me. We took a long walk, did school on the deck, and now im just basking in the sunbeams streaming through the window. Im a summer girl through and through and this winter has been brutal. Anyone else struggling through the endless rain and gloom? I'm just going to keep on praising God for this answered prayer!
Israel took this photo of me reading "Anne of Green Gables," today. I never read it as a kid but we watched the movie recently and we were hooked. Now I'm reading it to the kids and I'm excited that we have all discovered Anne at the same time. We look forward to hearing about her adventures every day and are learning all sorts of new words. My favorite part of every day is reading all of the books for school on the couch together. One is always playing with my hair and the others are usually doing flips or pretending to be animals. 🤪 It's not perfect but it's pretty amazing.
Really wishing I was in the happiest place on Earth with this handsome fella today. 🌞 // So I wanted to chat about going on trips while on the debt free journey. Here's the thing...we have had times of gazelle intensity as Dave Ramsey talks about and times where we haven't been. I wouldn't necessarily say to take elaborate vacations but we've been on this journey for a very long time (and went many years without any trips) and have found that taking these trips have been so good for our family and has reinvigorated our desire to be debt free so we can do this more often. I might suggest taking trips that are closer to home or where you can stay with someone to save money. And only take trips you can pay for! Don't go more into debt, it's never worth it. We saved for this trip through a separate income than the one that pays our bills. So I know this advice is not what most people would give but it's just what has worked for our family. 😌 #debtfreecommunity
I've been picking a word for the year for a long time now and somehow every year the word just comes to me. This year the word that came clearly was BOLD 💥. I want to be bolder in my faith and bolder in my prayers. I want to be bold in the situations that cause me anxiety. I want to be bold in my beliefs and convictions even though they quite often are rather different. And this year we have a huge goal...to be completely DEBT FREE! We've been on the debt free journey for many years. We've made progress and then had setbacks. I believe we have just over $40k left (we had over $100k to start with between business debt and student loans and a bit of consumer debt when we used credit cards to survive a time without income). So this is a bold statement since that's a lot of money but I believe we can do it if we are faithful with the money the Lord provides. 🙌🏼 #olw #debtfreecommunity
It wouldn't be a best nine if @jjhellermusic wasn't in it. 🥳 This was the year we finally felt like we adjusted to being a family of 6. We are still learning and still not always great at this big family thing but I can truly say it was a good year.
This year's festivities were wonderful. While we are evaluating what Christmas will look like for our family in the future, I loved how intentional this year was. Now I'm ready to have the house clean so we can calm the chaos again.😅
I've always wanted to take a photo of my firstborn in my wedding dress. We finally took the box down from the rafters so we could donate it so we took the opportunity to snap a few photos. All of the poses were her idea. And for those of you panicking about me letting go of my wedding dress, it's going to be okay. It was great for it's intended purpose but I know it won't get used again. However, I did save my veil for my girls to use either as a veil or in another creative way. 👰🏼
