The show is on | but not open . . . On a freezing and windy October morning last year I was invited by Jacob & Jill @camerasanddancers to join their European tour visiting a prominent architectural site with a group of ballet dancers and local photographers. A few years ago, on a visit to LA, I attended another of Jacob and Jill’s cameraanddancer event in the outskirts of Los Angeles. The images I took on that event are some of the pictures I am most happy about when I browse through my camera roll. Although it was the first time, I was shooting ballet dancers. When I received the invitation for an event in Copenhagen, I was excited not only to meet Jacob and his lovely girlfriend Jill again but also to repeat the event in Copenhagen at a place where I had been before. The sun was about to rise when the bus driver parked the bus outside @campadventuredk at 7 am. We were all excited at arriving to the site but when the bus door opened and we stepped outside our faces turned ice blue because of an ice-cold wind. And as we climbed the tower, the wind got stronger and stronger. I must admit it was one of the most challenging photo events I have ever attended. Despite a magnificent sunrise, I was struggling shooting the dancers as I couldn’t control my light exposure on the iPhone because of the strong sun and wind. In October, I was busy with various client projects, so I didn’t share any of the pictures. But now is the perfect moment to share a few of the images and to send my warmest greeting to Jacob & Jill in Los Angeles as I can see from the international news that the coronavirus has arrived at Los Angeles. And to the rest of you wherever you are I wish you a happy Easter. Lastly, remember that a lot of art institutions are struggling financial these days so remember to show your support to both artists and venues by buying tickets in advance 🐥 #CamerasAndDancers #instameet #jacobjonasthecompany #dancephotography #dancersofinstagram #instadance #dance #dancers #dancer #danceart #instagramfordancers #streetdreamsmag #epeoplescreative #instagoodmyphoto #shotoniphone #postthepeople #idancecontemporary
staying | connected . . . . Despite being physically isolated from friends during the lockdown, I have started to connect more often with friends via video and online. But I cant wait to hang out with friends again. Meanwhile I browse though my camera roll and recall great moments. #shotoniphone #liege #lockdown2020 #architecture #calatravaarchitecture
connection | people . . . . . What a sculptural structure! But then again I am a big fan of bridges. It’s a fascination that has lasted for many years. It might be a bit geeky as I don’t perceive myself as the engineering type of person. But I think it is because a bridge is often a simple visual construction that connects two places with each other, and allows people to connect with each other. During the lockdown, I am in the process of figuring out how to connect with new people. Today I had my first video meeting with a girl @hanneklintoelifeguidance I hadn’t met before through the video meeting platform @wherebymeetings The meeting went well and was very productive. But I must admit I do miss my real encounters with friends and my business network. How do you deal with the isolation and lack of human interaction? #covid19 #lockdown #belgium #bridgelovers #stayinghome
cycling | courtyard . . . . . Taking a break from the coronavirus outbreak and browsing through my camera roll from my recent trip to Holland. I still have a few pictures l would like to share. One of these photos are from the beautiful design hotel Pulitzer’s lovely inner courtyard filled with old Dutch bicycles hanging on the wall and making it a perfect instagrammable hotspot. Thanks to the sweet concierge who showed us the courtyard. #hellofrom #amsterdam #visitholland
social | distancing . . . The sun is out today. But do as the swans by keeping a physical distancing to avoid the spread of the virus when you walk around the city. This is not to stop the virus but to slow it down. I miss my beloved Copenhagen and just want this coronavirus outbreak to be over so I can get back to the city, and hang out with friends, drink coffee, or just go to the supermarket without being scared of getting to close to other people. #covid19 #coronavirus #socialdistancing #stayin #denmark #shotoniphone #sunset
a calm mind | is the ultimate weapon . . . . The situation with coronavirus is changing by the day. Since our Prime Minster closed down Denmark Wednesday evening, I have felt overwhelmed and worried as a self-employed businesswoman as I could be forced into financial difficulties or having to work while ill. My mind was not able to think clearly because every time I picked up my iPhone and read the headlines or scrolled through my social media feed, the news had worsened. I haven’t prioritized my Headspace meditation for a while, but the first couple of days filled me with a troubled mind, and it forced me to restart my daily routine of a healthy Headspace break. Saturday, the weather was terrific, and I decided to put on my running shoes and go for a run in the forest while my busy thoughts took a break, maybe because I am a bad runner and could only think about when I had completed my 5K race! The mental treatments proved successful. Suddenly, I saw new business opportunities and an old dream that has been archived because of a lack of time popped up. But most importantly, I know that I will come out stronger in the wake of this turbulent period. The power of a healthy mind is paramount for my creativity, and it shows the importance of treating your mind and body well – especially when you are under pressure. My mind is slowly starting to recalibrate to the new 'normal' everyday life. Now it is time to take action on my ideas. And I am ready to fasten the seatbelt onboard my imaginary helicopter to explore new territories. While staying calm as I am forced to stay at home for the next two weeks - or until the situation is back to a normal everyday life version 2.0. What’s your survival hack for keeping mindful health during the stay in? Photo @anneoesterby #headspace #covid19 #coronavirus #healthymind #selfemployed #selfemployedlife #bikebridge #visitrotterdam
someone stole | my toilet paper 🧻 . . . . Last night our Prime Minister @mette closed down Denmark on live TV as a consequence of the dramatic increase in the number of corona cases. With a current hit of 615, the spike will most likely continue to increase in the following days and weeks to come. To prevent the virus from speeding even further; nurseries, schools and universities are shut down, and public workers requested to stay at home for the next two weeks to slow down the spread of the virus. Wise decision. But as a consequence of that decision, the Danes started hoarding toilet papers and other essentials goods from the supermarkets. So now the supermarket shelves are left empty. While the Danes hoarding the toilet papers apparently does it because it gives them a sense of comfort and control. How are people in your country behaving in response to the outbreak of the 🦠 coronavirus? #covid19 #covid19dk #covid_19 #toiletpaper #denmark 📸 from my archive from Berlin
sculptural | canopy . . . . . Calatrava’s train station in Liége has long been on my bucket list of places to visit. So this weekend when visiting Rotterdam, our lovely host Sasha @veer74 started her car and drove Anne @anneoesterby and me to the station. And what a view that met us then we arrived. The sun was shining, and the steel canopy was lit up in great sunlight that filled us with joy and excitement and created the perfect creative playground for spending three hours of walking around the station shooting photos. Today, the Liége train station serves as an outstanding example of train station aesthetics. If you happen to take the train from Brussel to Cologne or Paris, I can heartily recommend you get off the train and take a walk around the station before getting back on the tracks. #hellofrom #belgium #visitliege #communityfirst #sncbinternational
dutch | color . . . . . The colors of the Dutch flag are red, white, and blue—there's no green at all. This is kind of strange when you arrive at the neighborhood of Zaandam where everything from the houses to railings are painted in a bright pop green color. Thank you @anneoesterby for letting me borrowing your iPhone :) #shotoniphone #amsterdam #hellofrom
dutch | courage . . Jumping in to a new week full of energy after a great weekend getaway with lots of laugh, photos and geekiness. . #communityfirst #rotterdam #shotoniphone
going | dutch . . . . . For a long weekend with my Instagram friend @anneoesterby and meeting new and old friends. We have seen a lot of bridges, train stations and car parks :) Thx for a great weekend. #shotoniphone #hellofrom #communityfirst #carpark
dutch | briefing . . The Netherlands has become a must-see country for architecture lovers, who both like the iconic canal house architecture developed in the Netherlands during the 17th century to Modern architecture rooted in the architecture movement from the 1920s. So what better place to go shooting architectural photographs - than visiting the Netherlands for a long weekend with your photo friend @anneoesterby . . #visitamsterdam #outofoffice #concretelove Photo @anneoesterby
