The best way to start your day is having already prepared a nutritious breakfast the night before. For the last couple of years I haven’t been having breakfast daily because I’m always rushing out of the door in the morning to go to meetings or a workout. I started to realize how hard it was for me to increase my muscle mass when I wasn’t getting a sufficient amount of calories, so I started prepping my breakfast the night before. It’s always easy to make excuses but it’s even easier to find 15 minutes out of your day to make something healthy and quick! This morning I got to work on emails and enjoy this delicious bowl of overnight oats 🥄

Plant based Lebanese Pea & Carrot stew 🥘 this was one of my favorite foods growing up. The traditional recipe usually calls for minced beef, but I found it to taste just the same without the beef. I’m always trying to opt for more plant based options when it comes to my meals but I still eat animal products. This recipe is quick, hearty and low fat so I thought I’d share it. Ingredients required: - 1 large onion - 2 carrots - 2 cloves of garlic - 2 cups of peas - 1/2 cup tomato purée - 1 tsp olive oil - Spices (Sweet pepper, black pepper, salt, cinnamon, paprika & turmeric) Dice your onion, garlic & carrots and sauté in 1 tsp of olive oil. Once sautéed, add your peas, tomato purée, spices & 1/2 cup of water. Allow to simmer for 30 minutes. Serve the stew with your choice of rice, I opted for white rice with vermicelli. Beating the winter blues with a huge colorful salad bowl! I generally don’t have a big appetite so it’s super important for my main meals to be packed with nutrition. That’s why one of my goals this year is to incorporate a wider variety of vegetables and leafy greens into my diet, and the perfect way to do so is through salads. Salads have a bad reputation for being boring, which I think is totally untrue! I personally love salads that contain nuts, and a hearty dressing. The element of crunch and a punch of flavor from the dressing can change the whole salad. You can be creative by including coconut yoghurt, almond butter, soy sauce, tahini, pomegranate molasses in the dressing instead of the standard lemon-olive oil combination. Will be posting some of my favorite salad recipes soon, so stay tuned 🥗

Hey guys, so there’s a lot I wana share, so gear up. My page has been inactive for quite some time and I want to bring it back to life, starting with this post. This is me, Jenna Daou. I know I don’t share a lot of personal things on my page but this year I’ve decided to share more things about my life, not just recipes or nutrition related topics. So to those who don’t know me, I’m a 24 year old dietitian living in the beautiful Beirut, Lebanon. In 2018 I started my own healthy catering company called Lite Bites , it’s been the most amazing challenging experience and I feel so lucky to watch my little baby grow. In addition to the amazing things that happened last year, I also went through a lot of uncomfortable situations which are pretty relatable in our society and generation. As a dietitian, my body and my eating habits are always being scrutinized. Eating disorders are too common in our society and it’s something I think needs to be discussed more. This year my goal is to create a dialogue for these issues and emphasize all the amazing ways we can overcome these problems through self care, nutrition & exercise. I hope you guys will embrace this change on my page and maybe we can get to know each other better and create a community where we motivate each other to be the best version of ourselves. I will continue to post my favorite recipes, nutrition advice, and my workouts, but you’ll also be seeing my everyday life, my relationship, business related posts and much more! I got so many messages from you guys about these amazing pancakes 🥞 yesterday that I decided to dedicate a post so the recipe can be archived for you guys! These chocolate chip pancakes are absolutely incredible and they can be tailored to your dietary preference. To make 4 pancakes you’ll need: - 1/3 cup oat flour - 1 mashed ripe banana - 1/2 tsp baking powder - 1 egg - dash of almond milk - 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix! Important tip: make sure your stove top is on low to ensure your pancakes don’t get burned and cook properly in the middle! If you’d like to make these pancakes vegan, replace the egg with a flax egg (3 tbsp flaxseed meal & 5 tbsp warm water). To increase the protein content, feel free to add your choice of protein powder to the batter, but make sure to add more almond milk to maintain the correct texture. After an intense reformer pilates session, I came home absolutely ravenous! Made a protein shake but it didn’t fill me up so I decided to make a quick and easy lunch: Mexican Fajitas 🇲🇽 I’m not a fan of prepackaged fajita seasonings because of their high sodium content, so I decided to season the chicken strips with paprika, cumin, pink Himalayan salt, pepper and a little bit of chili. When the chicken was cooked, I topped it off with mozzarella cheese and let it melt. The wraps are low cal wraps I found at Spinneys and I prepared some guacamole, lettuce, tomato and caramelized onion & green bell pepper on the side. Super delicious and now I’m definitely feeling full 🍴

Feeling super sore after our 13km hike through the Lebanese cedars yesterday! It was such a beautiful day exploring the Shouf Biosphere Cedar Reserve. This was definitely the most challenging hike I’ve ever done but the incredible views made it so worthwhile. We’ve been enjoying spending our Sunday’s outside the gym and doing outdoor activities instead 🌲⛰
