____ #runningculture

Why only girls? 3/3 I👧🏾Do you know Samia story? On the 17th of May the deflated rubber dinghy where Samia was is reached by the Coast Guard a few km away from Lampedusa, at the bottom of the boat are 5 bodies, one of them is Samia’s, trampled and drowned to death, 4 months pregnant and with her body burned from a mix of urine, feces and gasoline. All she wanted was to be free to run. In Kenya, girls can practice sports and become athletes, but they don’t have the right shoes to do so. ‪Until 10/20 years ago, ritual female genital mutilations prevented many of them to become athletes due to the chronic pain related, but then the perspective of an economic income for the families in case their daughters became a champions allowed to stop these mutilations. Sad that they stopped doing this for money and not because it is barbaric.‬ This year I suggested @Franciscorecfilms to give more space to women, to make a donation for them only, to talk more with them, get to know them and tell their stories, this because I think that we have a moral duty to do so, to avoid to hear more stories like Samia's in the future, but especially because they are much more clever, funny and interesting than men! ;) PS Thanks to the help of the @Gazzelleontheroad , their idea and their commitment, this year we donated these girls some sport bras too. This gave even more strength to the message that we had in our mind. ____ @inyourshoes.eu @eternaleagles @lufthansa @franciscorecfilms @gazzelleontheroad Ph @lorenzoperrini #runningculture #eternaleagles #IYS #inyourshoes #webridgecontinents #lufthansa 👇🏻 🇮🇹

Why only girls? 2/3 I👧🏾Do you know Samia story? Her passion was just the same of many other girls in the world, she loved to run. Once Samia was back home from the Olympics, she started training for London 2012, but the threatening of the somalian islamic fundamentalist party Al Shabaab that banned women to do and watch sports made this impossible. An odyssey started for Samia, trying to train she initially ends up in a refugee camp, then moves to Ethiopia and finally Libia. In Libia she was imprisoned and raped, and she got pregnant. But Samia does not give up, her dream is still to arrive in Europe to run and train. For this reason ‪on March the 3rd‬ she boards in Tripoli trying to reach Italy in 3/4 weeks, on a 9 meters rubber boat, at 4 months pregnant and together with other 60 people. Samia celebrates her 21st birthday on that boat, with people she doesn’t know. ____ @inyourshoes.eu @eternaleagles @lufthansa @franciscorecfilms @gazzelleontheroad Ph @lorenzoperrini #runningculture #eternaleagles #IYS #inyourshoes #webridgecontinents #lufthansa 👇🏻 🇮🇹

Why only girls? 1/3 👧🏾 .Do you know Samia story? Samia Yusuf Omar was a Somalian girl who participated in Beijing Olympics in 2008. 17yo, leggings, her running shoes were gifted from Senegal team, an extra large t-shirt and an elastic hair band. This was her outfit at the start line of the tournament of the 200 mt race. She got to the finish line almost 10 seconds after the first one @vcampbellbrown 👧🏾Samia: “We know we are different from other athletes. But we don’t want to demonstrate it. We do our best to be like them. We know we are very far from those who compete here, we understand it really well. But more than anything we want to demonstrate our dignity and the one of our country”. ____ @inyourshoes.eu @eternaleagles @lufthansa @franciscorecfilms @gazzelleontheroad Ph @lorenzoperrini #runningculture #eternaleagles #IYS #inyourshoes #webridgecontinents #lufthansa 👇🏻 🇮🇹

We make people and cultures meet, or at least we try 🤝 📍St Francis of Karinde, May 4th, 2019 The road that goes from Nairobi to Iten, at almost 2400 mt. of altitude, is 360 km long. It’s one of the main roads in Kenya, but you have to imagine it, for those who know Rome, just like the Palmiro Togliatti after bombing. A 9 hours trip, mostly spent behind old heavy vehicles or small vans full of people. Small villages made of shacks and homes, alternates with cultivated fields, uncontaminated savannah and heaps of trash. In this pic @yeonjae_jwa Korean physics who works from a few years at Columbia University, with a kid from St Francis of Karinde, a small school near Nairobi that every year helps us with Kenyan customs. We bridge continents, we make people and cultures meet, or at least we try, it’s what I can’t help but think when I look at this pic. ____ @inyourshoes.eu @eternaleagles @lufthansa @franciscorecfilms #runningculture #eternaleagles #IYS #inyourshoes #webridgecontinents #lufthansa 👇🏻 🇮🇹

Basically, a family with a big van and a lot of running shoes. 🚐 📍Nairobi May 3th, 2019 Taking the shoes out of Nairobi customs, as we expected, wasn’t easy at all. No one in charge at the customs cares that what you are carrying is meant for charity. No one of them cares that those shoes, collected all around the world, and flown all the way there at our own expenses, are meant to help their “children” to become champions. Their only purpose is to try and take from you as much money 💰 as they can. The day at the customs is the worst day of all, not only for all the money you are forced to give more or less legally to the people in charge in order to take the shoes with you (and trust me it’s a lot), but especially for that sense of distrust in the humane kind you feel when you see a “father” stealing the future from his “children”, just to have a few more dollars in his pocket. In this picture, from left to right, Mr @gabriele_Remotti perfect mix of muscles and creativity, Miss @yeonjae_jwa from a little korean island to the physics laboratories of NYC, Mr @lorenzoperrini golden hearted photographer, Mr @silver_ius the gentleman pirate, Mr @Franciscorecfilms the video-maker with mirrored sunglasses and myself in the middle while I interpret the month of May for the @playboy x @inyourshoes.eu calendar. Here and there in the pictures are some t-shirts. Those are not there by chance, those are there because each and every one is a symbol, a symbol of what we have inside. @eternaleagles @franciscorecfilms @overthrownewyork @feiz_business_strategic @src_newyork PS if you wish to receive a copy of the @playboy x @inyourshoes.eu calendar, DM me ____ @inyourshoes.eu @eternaleagles @lufthansa @franciscorecfilms #runningculture #eternaleagles #IYS #inyourshoes #webridgecontinents #lufthansa #iys 👇🏻 🇮🇹

Behind me there are over 600 pairs of used running shoes from all over the world. In this moment, we are flying to Nairobi where some people will be waiting for us at the customs. We are a bit scared that we could have some issues at the customs. However, we have to thank all the people and the crews that helped us ( especially @eternaleagles) if these boxes are full of shoes and if we are sit now on this plane. Everyone’s help has been important and has made this mission possible for the third year. We promise ( @lorenzoperrini @silver_ius @yeonjae_jwa @gabriele_remotti and me ) that we will make our best to bring all the shoes to destination, even if we will have to sell the right kidney of @Franciscorecfilms .
