I must admit that I have not made this quarantine my b*tch after all. My new sleep schedule has been 3am to 11am, I have not finished all of my edits, clients are not paying their invoices, I am unsure about how I will make it through all of this successfully. I woke up this morning and said my money mantra with so much hope and fear behind it, “Money is always trying to find its way into my account I just have to make a way for it. All of my money problems are already taken care of.” In Jesus name I pray this is true. I’m praying for all of my freelancer friends. May we arise out of this storm more triumphant than before. Amen 🙏🏽 ***Edit: apparently freelancers can now file for unemployment #PrayForFreelancers #WomenInFilm #Mantras #Motivation
There’s only one product line that can keep my newly bleached curls moisturized even in the desert sun! Uhai is Liberian owned and operated and I’ve been using their products for years. Get into it y’all! My hair has been growing and thriving ever since 💕 This look is a twist out using their styling cream (I live by it cause it’s gives me the best twist out I’ve had in my 10 years of being natural) plus a healthy amount their oil blend for a shiny finish ✨ @uhaihair #BlackOwned #TwistOut #NaturalHair #FemaleFilmmaker #WomenInFilm
Quarantine but make it productive! This is where you’ll find me for the next two weeks... enjoying the solitude of my home office. I’m making self isolation my b*tch by getting all of my editing done, working on my vlog, and setting in place all of the boss moves I need to in order to level up my business. I’m also NOT going to visit my Nana until this thing blows over, because I went to Kaiser and they are currently not even testing for the virus! Crazy right?! 😲😳 And word on the street is you can have it and feel perfectly healthy... so, yeah... not worth risking the lives of the most vulnerable. So please everyone stay in doors if you can, stay healthy and wash ya hands ya filthy animals! What are your plans during the pandemic? When I think about where I wanted to be in my life journey by now, I feel like God has favored me. I never would have known to even ask for all of the blessings I’ve been given. Their light (my God is a they/them) has shone on me time and time again. They always remind me that none of this will happen on my time and that is good. Because Their timing is always perfect and I trust Them with my whole soul. Yes, black history month is over, but that doesn’t mean you should stop patronizing black owned businesses, informing yourself of black history, and even becoming part of it through doing good for yourself and others. I also want to say that this message is not just for black people. There are many ways to be an ally and doing all of the above are good practices to keep up all year long. Because black history is all of our history 💕 Photo cred for the first and last pic: @meredith_m_howard Photo credit for all other photos: @fourofour.co #BlackHistory #AllOfOurHistory
It was so so so lovely getting to help guide a tour of Auburn Avenue with @koolestkeith (who took these photos). My main focus was promoting the black owned businesses that I love patronizing. Of course we had to stop by @bigmouthbenstores and talk about how Ben went from being homeless on Auburn to owning a thriving convenient store and providing hope and assistance for the homeless community. Purchasing from black owned businesses is one way to be part of the black history that is being written every day. How many black owned businesses have you patronized this month? Thank you @fourofour.co for having me. And shout out bae in the back lookin like a proud boyfriend 🥰💕 #BlackHistoryMonth #AuburnAvenue #BuyBlack
