Here are the picturebooks that I’ve made. 📚 All these little worlds, I’m so happy they have made their way into your home. Please do consider shopping local for the holidays. 📚🌲 There is a new way to support local bookshops called @bookshop_org and I believe coming to the UK before the holidays. ❤️ Your book purchases support local bookshops! You can even specify which local to you bookshop should receive the full profit! Amazing! (Not an ad- just a really great way to support books and people who make books! ❤️)❤️🥰📚 #bookshops #booksmatter #birgittasif
Can you spot her? 🌲 She climbed up there to read her book- which says everything about this sweet girl of mine! Today she’s 9 🎈🎈🎈 And it’s hard not to re-play how 9 years ago she was born in a bit of a rush, a bit early and a bit tiny, only a bit bigger than our tv remote(the photo still makes me smile☺️!) Being her mamma = learning to balance my constant wishing she would stay my baby forever vs. being SO incredibly inspired by the person she is becoming 💕 Love you my sweet girl! 🌼
A bit teary eyed as I wrap up some birthday gifts for my sweet girl. 🎈❤️ This year I made her a special birthday crown out of felt(see my saved stories) and we’ll celebrate with some secret British treats we got her and of course, candles and song before she’s off to school. 🎈#dontgrowuptoofast
Lots of new faces around here lately and I thought I'd say hello. 👋🏻 I'm Birgitta Sif, originally from Iceland(currently living in Sweden). I'm a children's book author and illustrator. (I also teach and do design work.) My partner, Thor, and I have 2 daughters. 🐒🐒 I love to share about my illustrations, our love of books, our adventures, our crafts and cooking. I'm so happy you are here and I'd love to hear where you are from and something that has made you smile this autumn! 🍂 ps. This photo is a still from a video for a course I taught earlier this summer. Here I'm talking about one of the books I was part of illustrating called "Dreams of Freedom" published by Amnesty International and Frances Lincoln. @birgittasif #birgittasif
🍂FREE printable🍂 A simple and sweet autumn scavenger hunt🍂 that I made to do with my girls-and thought some of you might like to do as well with your little ones when you are out on a walk this weekend. I hope it may encourage some of you to spend some time outside wandering around together. Can you find them all? ❤️🎃🍂 Swipe up on my stories or find the link in my profile under Free Printables❤️ Happy weekend!
Oh autumn how I love you so! Mushroom and squirrel cookies! 🍄🐿 The perfect autumn afternoon activity plus the girls were over the moon excited to do this! So much fun to make and great to eat, too! 🍄 We laughed so much when we had to eat the poor little squirrels- but of course we gave them each a name- Mr. Tail-so-broken, Mrs. Kangaroo, Mr. Nuts, and Mrs. Brown.🐿🐿🐿🐿 If you'd like to give them a try here is the recipe: Yummy sugar cookies: 1 cup butter 2 ounces cream cheese 1 cup sugar 1 large egg 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp lemon zest (don't skip this- it makes them delicious!) 3 cups flour 1.5 tsp baking powder .5 tsp salt flattened out between 2 sheets of parchment paper and chill for a bit. Then cut out your shapes and bake for 8-12 min(ovens vary!) at 175C👌🏻 Frosting: 1 cup icing sugar add tsp by tsp till you get the consistency you want. Then split up into bowls and add your choice of food colouring. Tip: If you don't have a cookie cutter, (as with the bigger mushrooms here) I cut out some clean cardboard and used that as my guide and cut around it(my girl could easily do it, too) 🍄 Have fun! We're already planning the next batch of cookies to make! ❤️ #BirgittaSifbaking
Another one of my very limited edition riso prints available in my shop, only made 30 and already 10 gone. ❤️ It’s so peaceful and perfect for a little one’s room to help them drift off into sleep in the clouds. My girl has it above her bed ❤️ Link in profile to my shop ❤️ 🚗💨 #birgittasif
Took our autumn fairies out to fly around 🍂🧚🏻♀️ The leaves are falling faster and faster these days 🍂🍃🍂🍃🍂(Instructions a few posts back! So happy to see so many of you making them and sending me photos! Makes me so happy! 🍂❤️) #birgittasifcrafts #autumnfairies
Spent the afternoon painting with my girl- just us two. Here’s my painting of a 🐻 holding a 🌼. We both needed a bit of just us time , plus she loved using my fancy paints 😂🥰 and most of all it was a wonderful way to celebrate (we had some great family news- see my stories! 🎉❤️) I’ve been trying to paint more and am learning, and trying not to give up even when it doesn’t turn out how I thought or when the masking tape ends up bleeding and ripping the paper 😂🙈 Maybe better next time.. 🙌🏻 #birgittasif #gouchepainting Happy weekend all ❤️
An illustration I did for a magazine in the US. 🐻🍯 🐝 The article talked about how it’s become common- the race to finish things, often without stopping to enjoy along the way. #birgittasif #magazineillustration
Ever so thankful for libraries, and being able to pick up books out on our walk in town, but mostly thankful for these two, who asked “mamma, can we please just find a place to sit and read.” 📚❤️ #vikingsingothenburg ps. Can you spot me? 👋🏻
