Decided to take a drive last week to get some fresh air and away from the noise. Boy did we get some fresh air, it was so windy! We could hardly stand to be outside for more than 5 minutes. (PSA: We didn’t harm any poppies, this was two feet from the car). It was good to get out to have a novel experience that was beyond our four walls. Not only is having a new baby a rollercoaster ride of emotions, here comes another twist, Covid-19! It’s been relatively scary having a baby during this pandemic, but it’s taught me to appreciate all the things I may have taken for granted and to live in the moment with my baby. You know all those clichés with having a baby? They’re all true! The sleep deprivation, ability to use the restroom (to pee, poop or shower when you want/NEED to!), amnesia about life pre-baby, that parenthood is a full-time job, hot meals are out of question, and it’s the hardest thing you’ll ever do. The more positive clichés of course are also true; When you look at them your heart melts, you get mama bear protective, you’ll stare at them while they sleep, and that you’ve never felt love like the love you feel for your own child. No matter how much baby poop accidentally smears on me, numerous milk spit ups down my neck, ear wax and boogers I have to wipe clean, everything all adds up to this being the most rewarding experience. Dear tiny, yet abnormally large-headed human child growing inside of me, If you would kindly start making plans to vacate the premises any time after 2/10 that would be lovely. While I have enjoyed these last 37 weeks of carpal tunnel, heartburn, insomnia, swollen everything, flatulence, and nausea, I must inform you that you are starting to overstay your welcome. Your father (the panicked voice you hear any time something touches your luxury stomach apartment) and I are eager to meet you. The anxiety and fear of being new parents are ever present, but we are sincerely ready to endure all of the good and bad clichés that come with this new chapter in our lives. And while I certainly do not blame you for all of the things I've given up to provide you with a safe oven to bake in, mom really just wants a freakin' vodka soda and some sushi. Maybe a Caesar salad? Actually, I would settle for the ability to sleep on my stomach at this point or not feel the need to pee every 40 minutes. Can’t wait to meet you, my little dumpling🥟

Baby bump peeking through, yes, I have a little dumpling on the way. I was honestly weary about going on this trip, it’s been a challenging journey and I was reluctant to be so far. Tomorrow we will do beautiful things. -Antoni Gaudi The Sagrada Família will be completed in 2026, taking longer to complete than the pyramids. It is truly spectacular and I was in complete awe walking up to it and being able to experience it in person. Walking inside, admiring the attention to detail, learning how every arch and colored glass had meaning. It is one of the most incredible works of art and spiritual experiences I’ve had while traveling.
