I have a thing for Portland and I’m sure I’m not the only one! 😄🌿 Location: @portland.seacliff which is owned and operated by locals. #Portland x #Jamaica
A whole selfie gallery that no one asked for! 🤣 I can’t tell the last time I’ve done this. But.. Hi! 😋#TheWorldUpCloser
Another location in the parish of Westmoreland to add to your list: BENTA FALLS💦 Disclaimer: it’s important that when we visit such locations— beaches, rivers, falls we keep it garbage and plastic free. 💚#BentaFalls #Jamaica
All of my hesitations and emotions captured in a few images going down into this Blue Hole. It was scary, looked way too deep for my liking and I refused to go down without a life guard. (Pictured on the last frame. Lol) It was mind over matter. But, I did it and it was a whole vibe. Another new location ticked off in the parish of Westmoreland. #BlueHole #Westmoreland
A little hideaway spot on the southcoast.. I love being here! 💦 #Jamaica
Who else loves a good waterfall? Currently going through the top things to do in the parish of St. Thomas and visiting Reggae Falls is definitely one of them. Pro Tip: If you’re looking to enjoy and roam around the falls freely, visiting on the weekend is a no no. A mid-week visit would be more ideal. Also, it is not privately owned (yet)👀 so as of the entrance is free as of December 2019. Disclaimer: it’s important that when we visit such locations— beaches, rivers, falls we keep it garbage and plastic free. 💚#ReggaeFalls #Jamaica
The Caribbean is re-opening! 🏝 As of right now, here are the islands that are currently welcoming international travellers: Now: Antigua & Barbuda, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Barts, U.S Virgin Islands Starting July 1st: The Bahamas, Bermuda, Cuba ,Aruba, Grenada, Barbados. Turks & Caicos (July22) For many of these small islands, the reopening of borders are a mix of emotions. But most, if not all, are strongly dependent on tourism to keep things moving. Tourism in the Caribbean is the main industry. Vacationers, honeymooners, travellers, backpackers, dreamers holla when you have the green light. To lighten ‘the weight’, the worries and the unexpected, outdoor activities and road trips are recommended. Islands such as: Grenada, Dominica, The Cayman Islands, St Kitts & Nevis, Jamaica are ideal for outdoor adventures. The travel industry is changing. While we observe how the industry adopts travel safe and travel with care. #Caribbean #CaribbeanTravel
Welcome newest followers! After being recommended as one of Black travellers to follow this past weekend, I welcome you all to this little space on the internet in which I call The World Up Closer. Born and bred in Jamaica, I represent not only my island but the Caribbean as a whole. The core materials, content and blog I create often reflect insights of not just what it’s like travelling as a black woman but one that is constantly searching for ways to put a voice to the fact that people from ‘developing countries’ travel too. It’s a constant fight but we’ve gotten this far. I often partner with travel brands, tourism boards, airlines, hotels etc as means to amplify the above. Welcome!
