We've been traveling around Costa Rica a lot the past few months and so far, Bajos del Toro and Blue Falls specifically is one of our favorite places so far. Still can't get over how amazing this area is and how empty it was! When we visited these blue waterfalls back in June, we were the only ones there which was spectacular. Can't wait to go back and visit more waterfalls in this area! @bluefallsofcostarica #costarica #puravida #alajuela #costaricacool #visitcostarica #ig_costarica #waterfalls #bajosdeltoro #hiking #descubrecostarica

OSA PENINSULA - widely known as the "last frontier "and "wild west" of Costa Rica is an incredible destination where one can truly get away from it all. For those looking for an epic jungle and beach adventure, head down to the Osa! You can surf at Matapalo, trek through Corcovado National Park, see whales and dolphins in the Golfo Dulce and experience a place that will make you feel like you've spirited away into Jurassic Park. Here you can see all 4 monkeys that live in the country, toucans, sloths, anteaters, peccaries, tapirs and even jungle cats like pumas! These are drone shots we took of Cabo Matapalo at the very tip of the Osa Peninsula. It's a popular surf spot but you can stay there to use as a launch point to explore Corcovado National Park. Although it's quite an adventure to get to, a trip to the Osa Peninsula is 100% worth it with some careful planning! #costaricacool #visitcostarica #puravida #ig_costarica #costarica #puntarenas #dji #dronephotography #costarica2019 #matapalo #jungle #drone
A better birds eye view of the Bat Islands 😍😍😍 We got some amazing drone shots of the islands! Having a drone has really changed the content we put on the blog and we don't go anywhere without it anymore. It's always cool to see beautiful places from above! #costaricacool #costarica #puravida #dji #dronephotography #guanacaste #ig_costarica #ig_guanacaste #visitcostarica #santarosanationalpark #nationalpark
Still going through photos of our trip to Santa Rosa National Park last week but here are some photos of the hike (3 km) that goes around the main island. A lot of scuba divers visit this part of the park because there is a very healthy population of bull sharks. We don't have our scuba diving certification (yet) so we did some snorkeling and saw a lot of turtles, manta rays and a nurse shark! We love exploring Costa Rica and it's always worth paying a little bit or waking up at the crack of dawn for a unique, unforgettable experience like this one! #costaricacool #visitcostarica #costarica #puravida #guanacaste #ig_costarica #ig_guanacaste #nationalpark
Costa Rica protects nearly 25% of their land with 32 national parks and many biological reserves and private refuges. It is what makes this country the biologically rich country it is and without all this protected land, flora and fauna wouldn't be able to flourish like it does now. ******************************************************************In honor of national park day yesterday, here is a photo of one of our favorite parks, Santa Rosa National Park (area de conservation Guanacaste). We visited this incredible place last week and we still can't get over what an amazing day it was. It's now one of our top favorite places in Costa Rica, hands down. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks Costa Rica for protecting beautiful places like this. Lets hope that others follow suit when it comes to conservation, we only have one earth. Let's do our best to keep her healthy. #costaricacool #visitcostarica #costarica #puravida #ig_costarica #guanacaste #ig_guanacaste #nationalparks #islands
Peak humpback whale season is now in Costa Rica and we saw a mom and baby by Witches Rock the other day. Always incredible to see these amazing mammals! 🐳🐳 Other great places to see whales are Uvita, Manuel Antonio, Golfo Dulce and Drake Bay. Don't miss out on your chance to see them! #costaricacool #costarica #puravida #whales #🐳 #guanacaste #ig_costarica #ig_guanacaste #visitcostarica #costarica2019
Had a blast going down 4x4 roads through Bahia de los Piratas with our pups to explore different beaches! We even made it all the way to Pedregosa but there were so many cows at that beach (which our dogs love to bark at) so we turned back to Playa Real. Absolutely love this area, though wish the waves weren't so strong so we can swim in calmer waters. But it was a gorgeous day out, Guanacaste sure does have some beautiful beaches and it's so much fun exploring this province! #costaricacool #visitcostarica #ig_costarica #costarica #guanacaste #ig_guanacaste #puravida #beautifuldestinations #conchal #tamarindo #flamingo #4x4adventures
One of the reasons why rainy season is our favorite time in #costarica is because of the wildlife. This time of year is the best to see turtles! The best place right now is Ostional, a wildlife refuge in southern Guanacaste near Nosara. This beach is one of the two places in Costa Rica that sees these "arribadad", or mass turtle nestings. They generally follow the moon phases (new moon or darkest phases) are the best times and it's possible to see babies hatching and turtles nesting everyday now until December! 🐢🐢 And if you go boating, you can also see turtles mating! We have been lucky to see the entire life cycle from mating, nesting and babies hatching. You can't visit the refuge without an guide so book with a tour company or hire a guide at the local guide association in downtown Ostional. It's an unforgettable experience!
Flying in Costa Rica - it's the fastest way to get around the country and a very fun one at that! Now with a handful of domestic airlines servicing local airports throughout then country, getting around by air is a very doable option! You get unbeatable views that you would never see otherwise. On our flight from San Jose to Liberia, I saw a heart shaped pond, on our flight from San Jose to Quepos, we went all the way down to Puerto Jimenez and Drake Bay and got to see the whales tail and Sierpe mangrove along the way. It was pretty spectacular and saved us a ton of time. Instead of driving 5 hours from San Jose to Tamarindo, we flew for 30 minutes. I couldn't believe how much time we saved which was awesome. ********************************************** Have you ever taken domestic flights? I've also taken one in Ireland to Donegal, the world's most scenic airport and that was an incredible experience. We just love airplane views! #costaricacool #costarica #puravida #visitcostarica #ig_costarica #viewsfromaplane #windowseat #guanacaste #sanjose #uvita #puertojimenez #drakebay
The Whales Tail is one of Costa Rica's most interesting and iconic natural formations, it is made of two beaches coming together as one and in low tide, you can see the whole tail and walk out to the tip! Another fun fact is that Uvita and Marino Ballena National Park is the best place to see humpback whales in Costa Rica! 🐳🐳🐳 The peak of humpback whale season is now through September so if you're visiting the area, you have to take a whale watching tour! #costaricacool #costarica #ig_costarica #visitcostarica #uvita #puravida #whales #humpbackwhale #dji #dronephotography #puntarenas #dominical #ojochal
Check out this gorgeous rainforest waterfall hike! We visited Rio Celeste last week and were SO lucky to get absolutely amazing weather with sunny clear skies! We got to see the river soo beautifully blue 😍😍😍 We were super worried it wouldn't be blue because just the day before, it had poured all day so the river turned brown! This was 3rd time at Rio Celeste and it never gets old to see it. We had a ton of fun seeing this river with some friends and family who had never been there before, even though they are Costa Ricans (but from San Jose so understandable). During our hike, we saw a boa and armadillo which was awesome! If you haven't put Rio Celeste on your list of places to go in Costa Rica, do it right now! It's so worth it! It's only a 2 hour drive from La Fortuna and Liberia on a good road so you have no excuses 😄 #CostaRica #puravida #costaricacool #visitcostarica #ig_costarica #guanacaste #alajuela #bijagua #beautifuldestinations #centralamerica #rioceleste
