Day 51 felt sort of normal
Travel has the powerful ability to transform you into an advocate for nature and conservation. It opens you up to new possibilities, and distills a sense of wonder, curiosity and empathy for our world. With travel currently at a standstill, many are wondering what the industry will look like when tourism returns. I sat down with @natgeo to share my take, and I’m especially grateful for this opportunity to advocate for a better, greener industry on the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Still daydreaming amidst it all ❤️
I work in the travel industry. I’m telling you to stay home. During these unprecedented times, it is the most altruistic thing you can do. • In this ever-evolving situation, it’s important to stay safe, calm, informed and optimistic — more at the link in my bio. • 📷 photo taken during lighter times at the beautiful @tensingpen (add it to your bucket list)
For 2+ years, we’ve held our team meetings for @impacttravelalliance on Tuesday nights with this backdrop — one of my favorite views of my favorite city. Tonight was our last meeting in the space. I guess this is what bittersweet feels like, because I’m sad to go but excited to see what this city has in store for us next. Onwards and up ❤️ #thisissustainable
Happy adoptiversary to this perfect little lion that @devinswheeler and I are lucky to call ours 🥰 #Vincent • ps we are making the same face
Weekend home @glenfallshouse 🌱
PSA for New Yorkers: Beacon is only a 1.5 hour train ride from Grand Central on @mtametronorth and it’s prime foliage season. It’s a good time to spend some time in nature 🍂
Did you know that one third of food produced globally is wasted, and one in seven people go hungry every day? Not okay. • Proud to partner with @afarmedia for @impacttravelalliance events in 10 cities around the world to celebrate World Food Day on Oct. 16. We’ll discuss the relationship between travel, food and sustainability, and how you can have a positive impact on the world through something as simple as where and what you choose to eat. Join us. RSVP at the link in my bio. #thisissustainable
If you’re not scared, you’re not listening. As #ClimateWeek is coming to a close, the wheels in my head have been churning about all of the work we have ahead of us, and the enormous urgency of it all. • I spoke with a journalist this week about an upcoming story on plastic in the travel industry, and at one point he asked me, “How did we get to this point?” • And perhaps that answer can also help lead us to “how do we move forward?” • People care about the things they are able to experience. I’ve been fortunate enough to feel the power of the ocean beneath me as I’ve learned to surf. To look a mama gorilla in the eye and stare at one another uninterrupted for several moments. To see the northern lights dance across of the sky in front of me. To fall asleep to the symphony of the rainforest in the Amazon. To witness the magic of a bioluminescent lagoon and see how microscopic organisms sparkle with light and life. And so, I fight to protect these things. • Nature doesn’t need us. But we sure as hell need nature. So this weekend, get up, get out, and go explore. Find a reason to connect with the magic and beauty of this big beautiful planet we call home.
Soaking up the last days of summer ❤️
Celebrated 8 years in this city a few weeks ago, and it’s officially the longest I’ve ever lived anywhere. Grateful for everything NYC has in store for me each day, and for how I’ve grown because of it ❤️ • ps NYC, thanks for always having the most beautiful skyline, even on rainy nights
