✨Learning to celebrate, even when I’m not perfect! ✨ I noticed something today, while thinking about what I wanted I celebrate for my 1 month of being on this challenge... I realized that in the past, if I didn’t do something 100% perfect, then I wouldn’t see it as something worth celebrating, because I’d failed. 🤦🏾♀️ I can tell by these pictures that it’s likely I GAINED weight (I’ll know for sure tomorrow morning when I weigh-in). 🤦🏾♀️ I didn’t hit my water goal every day. 🤦🏾♀️ I wasn’t perfect with my nutrition. 😢These are ALL TRUE... 🚨HOWEVER🚨 💪🏾 I’m still seeing muscle toning and development, and I’ve actively made the decision to either workout or go for a walk around the neighborhood more times than not! 💦 I drank at least 64oz of water each day!! 👍🏾 A majority of my nutrition choices were healthy and still kept me on track for reach my goals! 🙌🏾 This journey is teaching me to focus on PROGRESS not perfection, and to really think about how my choices will affect my progress towards reaching my goals! There are some things that I need to get back into doing that I said I would do at the beginning of last month. My self-discipline could certainly use some work (just because I don’t FEEL like doing what’s necessary to reach my goals doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t do them anyway! The Devil has been deep in my mind on that one)!! 🤏🏾I MIGHT have to adjust my deadline date for reaching my goal weight, but I WILL NOT give up on the goal!! I WILL celebrate what wins I DID have so far, and use the missteps as lessons and reminders of what I don’t want to continue doing during this next month. 🎉 For now, I’m proud of the small steps I’ve made in my Optimal Health journey, in spite of the detours!!! I’m celebrating ONE MONTH DOWN of taking COMPLETE OWNERSHIP of my health journey!!! 🎉

Wow, has it been 3 weeks already?? 😮 This past week has been interesting, adjusting to a new work schedule that changes every 4 days and creating a routine that works with the new schedule. It’s really just been an adjustment in general to be honest! Still, I was able to get some workouts in, and while my nutrition wasn’t perfect, it wasn’t absolutely horrible either. The main take-away from last week that I got is the importance of accountability. Having an online community to check-in and share wins and struggles and know that someone in that community has either been through the same thing or just had words of encouragement has been the best!! A few weeks I ago I hung up a white board in my room, but hadn’t written anything in it. Last night I finally did, and plan to use it as a daily reminder of what I’m working towards!! Weight-wise I’m up a few pounds, but it’s not the end of the world. I’m still seeing muscle definition, my clothes either fit well or they’re loose, and I’m gaining confidence in wearing shorts again when the weather is nice!! This week I want to focus on getting more sleep, which means establishing a good before bed routine for both myself and Arianna 🛌
(written earlier this morning) It’s pretty early to be up and at work on a Saturday. I could complain about even having to BE at work right now, given what’s going on right now and the fact that it’s SATURDAY and Im working through the weekend... But despite the inconvenience of having to come in, I GET TO have a job to go to, while so many others have been laid off or have reduced hours. I GET TO receive a paycheck that pays my bills and take care of my family, while others are stressed and worrying about how they’re going to pay for theirs and take care of their families. So yeah, while it sucks and it’s not quite the ideal working situation, I don’t have a reason to complain and I won’t. I’m choosing to focusing on what I GET TO do, and I’m grateful for it 💜
I’ve been feeling a little off today; not sure if it’s the Stay at Home Order or PMS, but I’m gonna drink this tea and watch The Vampire Diaries to wind down before bed. How do you like to wind down at the end of the night?
*Throws another pack of chicken into the fridge to thaw, because tonight’s dinner was GOODT!* Baked chicken thighs, green beans, and mushrooms!!!
I originally was going to put this dinner on a bigger plate, but realized that if I did, I’d want to eat more than I needed to; I’d want to overfill my plate because my eyes would trick my brain into believing that I didn’t have “enough”. By putting my dinner on a smaller plate, I can see that I am eating enough, and that this will keep me satisfied! I know I won’t be tempted to put more than necessary on my plate, because there wouldn’t be enough room! 👩🏿🍳Dinner tonight is Italian Meatballs with Fat free Catalina dressing, and roasted broccoli!!
What small steps are you taking today to reach your big result(s)? To reach my health goal, my small steps include ensuring I eat a healthy meal every 3 hours, drink at least a gallon of water, and complete some form of exercise! To reach my educational goals, my small steps include catching up on class readings and discussions for one course, and catch up on module videos for my other course!
Been snacking off an on all day 😖 Still going to work tomorrow and the 3 days after that 🤪😒 Taking back control over what I can control, by making a healthy dinner 👩🏿🍳 One choice at a time; one day at a time 💜
