An open letter to Grand Teton: You are very beautiful. Maybe just beautiful enough to only climb once a decade.
Obligatory gear post. Get ready for 24 hours of Grand Teton. Hopefully it doesn’t take us that long but I am out of shape and slow.
Laziest dog award...
Someone lost 20 lbs. (of fur) just in time for summer. #summerbod
46- Desert Peak. 7,005 ft. I had a chance to go out to the desert for work so naturally I had to bring Lobo along to do some hiking. This one was right in the middle of the salt flats with nothing else around, just like we like. Just us and the antelope.
Just doing some training for an upcoming hike that will require some ropes. Are you ready @backcountryexposure ?
Hard to believe this was over a year ago. #thermaresting
79- Land’s End. 7,151 ft. Well it’s been a weird couple of weeks and this peak fit in perfectly with what’s going on. First of all, this peak is very isolated. Like 120 miles on a dirt road isolated. I spent a freezing night in the desert to hopefully get a cool sunrise shot overlooking the canyons below but was more than a little annoyed when I awoke to snow and cloudy skies. We’ve all had to deal with the disappointment of canceling fun plans lately. Just as we got to the top the sun started to peek out and I got this shot. I realized that storms are only temporary but the sun is always shining even when we can’t see it. Sometimes we just have to hunker down and wait it out. Stay safe everybody and stay home!
Did some slot canyons today. Due to a very distracting conversation with Maclaren about snakes and giraffes we missed our turn so had to do some cross country desert bushwhacking to get back on trail. At that point the kids were over wanting to go up into the planned slot canyon and Lobo was pretty freaked out after the first 100 yards so we played in the sand and explored a neighboring wider one instead. All in all a pretty good trip.
Went for a quick weekend trip down south.
Well this was pretty much our outing today. Maclaren stayed within about 20 feet and Lobo was just a blur in the background. Maclaren said she wanted to chase Lobo and I said good luck.
