The internet is so cool sometimes ;) @wellnessbymaryjo and I connected through social media & the fitness industry way back in 2014. We had mutual friends and started following along with one another’s fitness & life endeavors. Fast forward several years - she been my client for over a year but yesterday was the first time we were able to meet in person! 😍 I’m so thankful for the incredible individuals I have met over my time in the fitness industry & through bodybuilding/powerlifting. God is so good. ♥️ love this girl! Here’s to more road trips 🥳
LEAN vs lean. 😂 “Lean” is not black & white. There are various levels of leanness - some that can be healthy & some that are not. Stage leanness (for competitive bodybuilding) is not healthy or sustainable long term. With the rise of social media & the increased popularity of bodybuilding, a lot of the lines have been blurred between what is realistic and what is simply dumb to try to maintain long term or year round. First photo was 2015. I maintained this leanness for too long. What resulted? Hormonal problems & a whacked out body fat distribution when I did gain weight. As a woman, if you don’t have a cycle, something is off and you need to address the root issue. And remember - just because you have a cycle while taking hormonal birth control doesn’t mean you are healthy hormonally. Many times, birth control can mask real underlying issues. Get blood work done regularly and have these discussions with your doctor - AND relay this info to your coach if you work with one. Coaches should be concerned with their client’s health & long term success. Success is not just a placing on stage. Make sure your life isn’t being affected long term because you are addicted to the stage or looking “good” for the gram. Been there, done that - and it’s not a good idea. 😁 #health > #shreds
2019 goal was to bring up my back & shoulders. 2020 has been MORE back (and hamstrings). 😆 What will 2021 bring? 🤔 It’s been a successful year 🎉 I’ve never had this much thickness in my back or as much strength in my pull movements as I do now. For fun, I threw in a picture from now vs 2015 of my back! (Scroll). A lot of width has been added in comparison. It’s taken consistent effort & a lot of time. I have “fun” doing the same things over and over and over. That’s the secret 😂 I’m also very nutritionally consistent. I can count on one hand how many days I’ve been under 150g of protein in the past 5 years. #gainz The secret is that there are no secrets. 🤫 I’m very pleased with my body composition at this weight of 158-160lbs at 5’7. I’m hormonally healthy, lean but not too lean, have minimal aches and pains, and I’m eating quite a bit. I’m going to ride this wave 🌊 because IMO it’s harder to find a happy place in the off-season (non competition season) than it is to find a fire during a prep. With no “goal” in mind, it can be easy to get lost. But I’ve found I LOVE my daily workouts more than I like simply stepping on stage or competing with someone else. Although I do desire to compete again. I like that fire too! It also helps when other things in life are going pretty darn well and you have a new life encourager. @jakobchurch 😘 Here’s to more gains this fall. #bulkingszn 🍁 video anglez: @tim.hoverman

It’s taken me about 10 years to have this body composition at 160lbs (I am 5’7). This same weight used to look TOTALLY different on me 5 years ago. The scale is one indicator of progress - but it is not everything. If I would have refused to gain weight when I first started lifting at 130lbs, I would have spun my wheels for a long time. A caloric deficit is NOT a long term lifestyle. #girlswhoeat #bodybuilding #godisgood #10yearsprogress
For the first time, I open up about my upbringing and experience in the church. It was a struggle at times & I hope my journey can bring some of you all hope. Jesus > religion. Religion vs relationship @the.freedompodcast was one of my favorites we have ever recorded. Link can be found in my profile! 💕
I’m not my all time strongest, not my all time leanest, but I feel so so good. Stronger isn’t always the right goal. Leaner isn’t always the right goal either. Are we focusing so much on an external change that we are neglecting our soul & mental wellness? I hope my external is a reflection of the work God has been doing in my heart & life. I am healthy. I feel great. I want to help others experience the same. Freedom from the darkness of much of the fitness industry exists. @nunez3dmj thanks for helping me get here.
Life is better with you in it. 😘
One of my favorite traditions: holiday lifts with dad. ❤️ Today we hit back 🤘🏼and had a blast. My dad always encouraged me to lift & to be strong as I grew up. Some of my fondest memories were following him & my brothers around in the weight room when I was 10 or 11 😂 I’m so thankful for their influence in my life & the strong example of Godly men that I never realized I had until I was an adult. God is so good and these lifts remind me of that fact.
“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” Proverbs 27:17 ♥️ I love you & our chats about life, Jesus, and all things beauty. #lipblush Everyone needs a @taylynnjade.pmu in their life 💋💗😊
Split squats outside two saturdays in a row... 10/10 would recommend. I’ve been blown away by this incredible Ohio weather. 😍 August & September (so far) have been perfect. A daily reminder of how beautiful God’s creation is. @nunez3dmj deemed me the split squat queen so I’m going to roll with that 😂 These are by FAR one of the best quad / glute exercises - and most painful. Kinda why I like them - it’s a mental challenge 😆 Who needs a split squat tutorial?! 🤘🏼
