Brainstorming some ideas during this busy time of how I can offer some newness to the private label collection without having to produce an entire new seasonal collection ๐ค I've been leaning towards designing and curating a handful of new pieces for my own wardrobe and making them available for purchase - made to order like usual - for you all. This way I get some fun new fall/winter pieces which is a fix for my clothing addiction and you all can have some fun shopping a super unique collection this time around - inspired by me โค๏ธ Let me know your thoughts in the comments! For some context I've been imagining my wardrobe this winter as consisting of some monochromatic looks, a faux leather blazer, and some kicka** sportswear for comfort :)

A week ago my sister got married ๐ I had the honor of making her wedding gown ๐ฅฐ and I'm excited to finally be able to share the photos with you all! Flip through to take a look through the process (check out my stories for more BTS photos). It started with her vision and a sketch - we went to a bridal boutique so she could try on some dresses in her envisioned style to make sure it translated IRL (this was back in 2019). After that we finalized her design and got to work! I took measurements, sourced fabrics, and began to draft the pattern for her dress. This gown took a total of 4 fittings and 3 muslin samples before cutting into the final fabric. Because of covid our fitting schedule was thrown way off and consisted of me and her driving back and forth between Iowa and Colorado over the span of only 3 months. During one of my trips to Colorado we went to a specialty bridal fabric shop and found her fabric which was a blessing because shipping fabric in covid times has been a nightmare! Once I finished cutting out the lace and sewing the dress in the final fabric she came for her last fitting in Iowa where I pinned all the lace appliques on to the bodice of the dress. After hand sewing them on, lining the dress, and adding a bustle the dress was finished! I spent a total of about 80 hours of sewing time on this gown and it is the most special garment I've made so far :) Maria looked absolutely PERFECT in the dress - seriously stunning ๐ I can't wait to see her wear it again for all her friends and family next year during her post covid celebration! I Love you @mariabohling thank you for trusting me with something so special

Tune in tonight at 7pm on @thesupplyhive facebook page to watch the virtual upcycled fashion show! Myself and other local designers worked to create repurposed collections - all the pieces will be auctioned off after the show to raise money for the supply hive which is an amazing organization that supports our community here in Des Moines โค๏ธ To bid on items text UPCYCLE to 843-606-5995 and you will be directed from there :) auction will be live for one week. My pieces were made using an old quilt, button downs, and joggers :) I cut them all up and pieced them back together using my original designs which include the Celine blazer, Maria maxi skirt, Abigail pencil skirt, and Peekaboo skirt!

Sneak peak of the repurposed looks I created for @thesupplyhive virtual fashion show airing this Saturday :) All items will be auctioned off to raise money for the supply hive so be sure to bid on the pieces you like โค๏ธ

Excited for this Saturday to watch @thesupplyhive fashion show online - mine and other local designer's second hand designs will be showcased :) The best part is all of the one of a kind pieces will be auctioned off after the show so if you see something you like bid on it! The $$ goes to Supply Hive โค๏ธ This blazer I made from a quilt and a few button downs cut up and put back together using my original Celine blazer pattern :) the pencil skirt was made out of a pair of joggers.

Who misses having things to do and places to go? I'm starting to work on planning an expansion of my business - which will include more studio space and professional sewing/design equipment in order to host sewing classes for groups ๐๐งตโ๏ธ These classes will be an opportunity for those wanting to learn beginner sewing, advanced pattern making/garment construction, and certain fashion design specialties :) I am also planning on offering a membership program for any seamstresses out there who want to utilize the space and equipment while building a sewing community that fosters creativity! Wanted to put the idea out there so you all know what is to come next year :) I'll post updates as they come once I get the plan for expanding lessons ironed out๐

Remembering my mom today ๐ it's been 18 years without her ๐ I would love to be able to share with her so much of my life and my business especially since she was the one who taught me how to sew and co-led my girl scout troop which is a huge reason why I became so interested in the arts. I love this photo of her from back in the day - how rad are her glasses :) who knew she was so fashionable ๐
