welcome to the jungle
autumn: my built in best friend. she’s intentional. selfless. loves even when it’s not reciprocated. & her heart reflects light in every circumstance. she has unconditional love for everyone she encounters. not by her own strength, but His alone & it’s changing the world one person at a time. I know bc I’ve watched it my whole life. I love that you are my sister.
I haven’t posted on here on awhile bc I just moved into my college dorm about 2 weeks ago, life’s been pretty crazy and I’m still trying to figure out this new life of mine. I don’t expect anyone to read this entire caption bc when I see a caption this long I usually just scroll past them. but I hope at least 1 person reads this. ••• these past few weeks, I’ve really been trying to be present in the season of life I‘m in. in other words, focus on where I am NOW instead of wishing I was in the next phase of my life. growing up, I always looked forward to the next chapter of my life & was always thinking about what my future would look like. when I was in elementary school, I just wanted to grow up to and be one of the older kids. when I was in middle school, I couldn’t wait to get to high school and live a life like Gabriella Montez. but when I got to high school and figured out it wasn’t like the movies, I thought about what college would look like! ••• the transition to college was way harder than I thought it would be. not in the sense of living on my own and having to fend for myself, but hard bc I remembered the little moments I took for granted—like taking my brother to and from school everyday. or coming home from a rough day at school and being able to have movie nights with my mom. or being able to walk in my sisters room when I didn’t know what outfit to wear. or binge watching shows and playing sand volleyball with my family. or coming home from school to a meal my dad spent all day cooking for us. ••• it’s very easy to look at people older than us and want to be in the next stage of life. but your time will come!!! if you’re in middle school, there will be time to get your license! be patient! cherish the car rides with your parents taking you to and from practice. if you’re in high school, there will be time to pick out your dorm stuff, find your college roomie and decide what ur going to wear to rush! focus on the present! cherish the high school football games! cherish coming home to your parents asking how your day was. enjoy the season of life you are in and be ALL IN! life will go on! it won’t go backwards! be patient and live present!
