SURPRISE!!!! Okay LOTS of tears and crazy emotions happened when those two lines showed up on the test , considering my abruption with Calvin and there being a 20% chance of another and no way to prevent or predict It will happen again I will be going through high risk at emmc for this and had an appointment with them before I even had my ultrasound to discuss risks and all, but we are hopeful that it won’t happen again and if it does that I will be able to catch it way sooner with already knowing what it feels like. I’ll be having way more monitoring throughout this pregnancy, but I am so happy and excited and nervous to announce that we are expecting baby Fortier number two on May 12th,2023! Heart rate was 179 and everything is on track and looks great!!! We are so excited to give Calvin a sibling ! 🥹 #pregnancyafterpreemie #onehypedmama

as most of you know my sweet little dude was born at 29 weeks gestation due to a random placental abruption , he spent 75 long days in the nicu before we could bring him home. I had to quit my job to be home with Calvin to bring him to his appointments and really focus on his care because we knew something was wrong when he started being very delayed in a lot of his mile stones. He didn’t start taking steps until recently (he is now two) , he had an mri done a month ago and we discovered that he has cerebal palsy and a thin corpus callosum (the bridge between your right and left brain) which there is no cure for either of these things and the only thing that could possibly help is extensive Pt, ot and speech for the foreseeable future. we could possibly be caring for Calvin well into adult hood, the future is so unknown right now and doctors can’t give us any timelines for how much or how little he will be able to do. He cannot speak, can only take a few steps at a time before his ankles give out ( we have been discussing braces) cannot point and struggles with motor skills and information processing. We also have many specialists we see, cardiology , neurology, he will be seeing a geneticist and physiatrist aswell as is being followed by the developmental clinic. Currently we live an hour away from the city he will need to receive his weekly care in, and I feel so stuck right now, I can’t work because he needs me to be home with him to manage and bring him to appointments and his doctors expect me to continue this care at home so daycare is out of the option, and I feel horrible knowing that he will be stuck in the car for two hours multiple times a week for the foreseeable future at two years old. We are trying to relocate closer to the city where he will receive his care so his quality of life will be better, and hoping to find a place that actually had a yard where our current place does not have yard access.
