Founding member of Sonic Youth Kim Gordon (@kimletgordon) left her mark on an era even as she remained somehow apart from it. And now, at 66, Gordon is as ferocious as she’s ever been with her first solo record. Throughout #ClimateWeek, youth-led actions reverberated within and outside the U.N. Maria Riker, photographed above, was joined by her fellow Institute of Collaborative Education classmate Cleo van Haaften to protest at the Dag Hammerskjöld Plaza in September. The 13-year-old students of the Institute of Collaborative Education have been striking with @Earth_Uprising co-founder Alexandria Villaseñor for eight months now. As Riker explains, “It does make us angrier at adults as time goes by and we’re still out here. They’ve known about this for years and no one has done anything, and now it’s on our shoulders. But we’ll continue striking as long as we have to. We’ve got to save the world before it ends.” At the link in our bio, meet more of the youth climate-change activists speaking truth to world leaders. Photographed by @joelsternfeld.

To honor her Nigerian-American upbringing, @tolucoye recreated some of the family portraits from her youth, blending traditional fabrics and symbols with American styles. "I am thinking that no matter where we go and how far we travel, there is just something about that country that sticks with us, that hangs on our clothes like the smell of egusi long after we have left home," @tolucoye tells @Lookingfornanayaa and @shola.child. "Our grandparents found solace in a new land by transforming it into a place of growth and self-discovery. My siblings and I carry the weight of the Oye name, the weight of all that time and effort that our grandparents spent documenting and archiving the growth of our family. We can only hope one day to hold the thick rims of the old photo album and share with our children our family legacy and history. This is what Nigeria means to us, the hard work of one generation and how it transforms the future of another." Tap the link in our bio to read more. Photographed by @doseofdots and Travis Matthews
