From feeling broken in the depths of my soul to feeling grateful for the capacity of which my heart was able to love/feel, to rebuilding myself over the past 3 years. Loss & grief are strange beasts, and healing is a long journey. Losing my dad, I didn’t realize how big of an impact his quiet support and confidence had on me. So this was my song to myself to remember I’m NOT BROKEN. Even though he’s gone it doesn’t negate his love. Even though he’s not here, it doesn’t discount the lifetime of support. I had just recorded vocals for “Mean”. And I was emotionally exhausted and feeling a bit sad because of all the feelings and grief was resurfacing. So as we set up to do vocals for the next song I was singing and we tested levels while I sat/sang like this. Then I stood up to go to the real mic and immediately went into “performance sing mode”. So of course the producer, @n8pyfer is like no, go back to how you were on the couch! And I’m like, you mean slouched on the couch, you sure!?!? And he’s like yes.. yup that’s how we’re cutting vocals for this. And it’s one of my favorite vocals. Something extraordinary happened where the vocals felt honest and real and simple while not trying or overthinking. it was for “Celebrate”.. then later I did the same thing for “if I could”. So that is how the couch slouch was born. 😂 DISCLAIMER: Don’t take this as professional singing advice. But also you never know what’ll help you hit the magic. 💁‍♀️the end.

Thank you for the support and love through all these years and just know that I couldn’t do this or be hear without YOU. Anyways I hope you had an amazing thanksgiving/week! 🫶 I got to spend thanksgiving in Arizona this year! It was the first thanksgiving not being at home which was strange but it was the perfect little retreat to soak up the sun, meditate, do some breath-work and other classes, decompress, and think of all the things I’m grateful for. ❤️

It sounded like she was quoting my song. And after the teacher was like oh my gosh I HAVE to play this for all my classes now. So now she has a theme song. It was very sweet and I’m so grateful! She also played it on the speakers so though I was originally embarrassed like your mom showing off what cool new trick you learned that week, I also was so proud and excited! This is gonna be a wild week of getting in-tune with my spirit, body, & mind. Which it already feels invigorating and terrifying. Time to embrace the journey.. it shall be interesting! 🧘‍♀️
