It’s 2019, Im sitting on my lounge room floor, so heavily pregnant it hurts. I felt so pulled, work & home. Id only just begun to wind down my schedule to prepare for my third baby & wondered how on earth I was going to ‘do it all’. It was hot, I was so heavy and the criticism of my work ethic was beginning to take over my thoughts. “How are you going to do this with THREE!?” I opened this app, and saw this woman right here jumping on a plane to travel across the globe to shoot in NYC. My eyes welled. I knew that wouldn’t have been easy, I knew she would have had disapproval, resistance. Big gosh I felt so much inspiration run through me. Mothering & living dreams. Not both at once, not all the time, but the delicate dance between the two, to create a life worth replicating. I reached out to her via DM, I’ve never dm’d a stranger until then, but i had to tell her. It sat unread for the longest time, which never bothered me. Just knowing I’d send positivity her way, was enough. Until Marcia reached out to work together 🙏🏻✨ Our third shoot now, and I couldn’t love this version of her more. Here’s to sharing what’s possible, so we can continue to open motherhood, womanhood wide open, and show all the ways it can happen. Not one way, no judgment, just celebrating the individuality of our journeys and all the ways we carve out moments and achievements for ourselves along the way. ✨ SLP x

And while you rest, new life enters. While you race, a mother sits in stillness with her new baby. While we wish the time away, a new mum prays for it to stand still. While we sit at traffic lights, brush our teeth, fill the car with petrol, the most incredible miracles are happening. The most joyous and the most mundane, the most blissful and the most heartbreaking moments have occurred simultaneously since the beginning of time. This is my daily reminder, that this life is such a circle of ins and outs, ups and downs, beginnings and ends. Spending my career hearing birth announcements and pregnancy joy is a wonderful way to spend my working days.. We can forget what a privilege it is to have that constant reminder of all that is good. And all that is good, to me, is the wonder and innocence of a fresh start, new life. So for those not in the field, I encourage you to remember in your hard moments, someone is experiencing their best. Their new addition 👶🏻 their bouncing toddler 👦🏻 their divided attention 😵‍💫 their utter joy 🥺 their tired bodies 😴 their excitement for the future 🤩 their ‘today was long’ 🫠 & their ‘these weeks are short’ ⏰ Parenting is an extreme version of two emotions living alive and well, side by side, most of the time. Images are all about freezing it, bottling it up, a transportation back to that moment, that is even different the next day, what a gift 🎁 One of the very few things that gathers more value as time passes by. As the bassinet sits unused, the ‘good’ onesie stays in the drawer unworn, the toys you had delivered from over the seas, sit high on the shelf, never to be played with… meanwhile, the images that adorn your walls keep you anchored. A reminder of time passing, children growing, how brief it all is. The images you share during catch ups with loved ones, we gift them for the most special of occasions, they ‘feed’ more than just those that purchased the shoot and chose the images, they are generational treasures. A mark you existed. Proof you were loved. And that’s why this job is such a joy, knowing they’ll be passed from one loving hand to another, over and over, until the child in the image passes it to theirs ✨ What a thing to be a part of. They are 6, 5, 4, 2.5 & 11 months, and they’re still amongst my most regular clients. We’ve done three sessions in this past 12 month alone. 5 kids to get in the car, to get dressed. 5 faces to wipe, 5 kids to distract, comfort and get moving in the same direction. Yet, their dedication to capturing their childhood doesn’t waiver. My heros 🫶🏻 SLP x
