Feeling good to finally share my fave bakery in town! From viennoiserie to pastry, from sourdough to shokupan (Japanese milk bread or tangzhong bread), everything is consistently great here. FYI, the owner of @saltbakehousevn also runs @cyruschocolat (it’s a bit quiet atm due to the cacao quality during the pandemic, but it will be back soon). Croissant is sold at 36k (that’s nearly impossible to keep the price like this when you have a physical store in the centre of D1) even my shokupan loaf is only 86k (not available on menu but you can order one day in advance I guess, I love it because well yeah it’s soft and fragrant and the tangzhong method makes it last long without losing its moisture and elastic). Happy to hear that they will be expanding their seating and of course more items coming soon. Trying out one of the most recommended bakeries from my question the other day: @cuon.viennoiserie and I gotta admit it was not disappointed at all. 🥐🥭🍋 Exotic croissant (monthly special item, this one will be available till end of May) filled with Hoà Lộc mango & Tây Nguyên passion fruit paste then glazed with lemon icing. The structure and texture of the croissant are damn good, proofing is on point. The mango + passion fruit filling is the tricky one to pull off, it can be sour it can be sweet it can be in between depends on the nature flavours of the fruit itself. In this case it’s sour yet delicate. However the lemon icing glaze makes it extremely sour and adds to the perfect croissant an unnecessary cloying aftertaste. I think it would be better if they used some other spices or even liquors to balance the tanginess of the filling out (basil, cinnamon, ginger, champagne, gin…). Passion fruit and mango flesh could be soaked up in gin 🤤 . Overall it’s good and I’m all for featuring local ingredients esp seasonal fruits. And only 45k? Shut up and take my money bruhhhhhh!! 🍫 Pain suisse au chocolat 40k. This is for me so much better than its close cousin pain au chocolat (just my preference lol). And just a few places do this here I think (never came across it anywhere in Malaysia). Cuộn version of chocolate suisse is a bit sweet to my liking, I prefer darker and bitter but again it’s well executed! And if they go for a double laminated option on the outside (I know it will be more work..) then it would be the star of their menu! 🍯🥧 Cinnamon roll 35k, too dense for me and the only item I didn’t enjoy that much. 🍯🍪 Pain aux raisins 35k, not my go-to viennoiserie yet this one is surprisingly good! Incredibly airy and buttery and just the right amount of syrup glaze which make it not sticky and not too sweet at all. Didn’t expect I would love it this much 😂 . And last but not least, hats off to @cuon.viennoiserie for keeping the price is so accessible even with the monthly special item. I just want you guys to know I’m back and maybe I’ll still not be posting frequently but I’m here for all the ethical/sustainable/local/independent businesses 😍🧡
