Haris Daeng Ngalle, an Indonesian man from Pattallassang, has a concrete idea of what his favorite food is, and that’s not a joke. For the last three years, he’s been dining on cement. Sometimes he mixes it into his drinks, a normal way to consume the construction material when compared to using it as a topping for bananas. But what drives an otherwise sane man to eat cement? And how did he build up (no pun intended) a tolerance to it? ‘This habit started in 2021 when I was stuck in a warehouse. I was breathing a lot of dust from the cement, that made me pray to God, to ask if I could be united with the cement. Then I drank the cement with water. After that, I do it occasionally,’ he said, which doesn’t really explain it, but oh well. This unusual eating habit has cemented (really, no pun intended) him as something of a local celebrity, especially because he doesn’t appear to be any worse for wear after years of his unusual diet. He must be made of tougher stuff, and no, we don’t mean the concrete.

A Mexican boy’s birthday party got a grizzly end when it was invaded by a bear. Silvia Macias of Mexico City had gone to Chipinque Park to throw a birthday celebration, but was in fur a big surprise when an uninvited guest left her protecting her son with her bear hands. Her son, Santiago, was bearly 15 years old. The large bear put the party on paws after it leapt up onto the table and started devouring the birthday meal of tacos and enchiladas, until the table was bear. Silvia held her hand over her son’s face so he could bearly see what was going on – Santiago has Down Syndrome, and is scared of animals, and, like most people, unbearably scared of bears. Fortunately, one of Santiago’s friends lured the bear away by throwing the food, giving the family enough time to make their escape. Silvia was, however, upbeat about living to tell the tail. ‘I just think I'm a mother who protected her cub,’ she said. That’s what we call bearental guidance.

Germany’s flagship airline has warned that a shift to green fuel would consume half of the country’s entire electricity output, Bloomberg reported on Monday. According to Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr, synthetic fuels manufactured using renewable energy are the best way of ‘decarbonizing’ air travel, but that there was nowhere near enough green energy generated to produce them. This means Lufthansa would need around half of Germany’s entire supply to get its ‘carbon neutral’ planes. The report comes as Germany is already struggling to meet domestic power demand, thanks in no small part to EU sanctions on Russia. Supply was further stretched after Germany shut down its last remaining nuclear power plants in favor of some windmills and a hippie with an acoustic guitar.

Two hours into a Ukrainian push on the front line, armored vehicles lie splintered, tanks ignite as their ammunition catches fire, and dozens of soldiers are dead, or dying. All Ukrainian, all shredded by Russia’s literal big guns – howitzers, mortars, and guided, precision missiles. Millions of dollars in ammunition, weapons and vehicles – including the US-made M1224 MaxxPro – have been sacrificed in an attempt to gain mere inches. They did not manage even that. And yet, the battle is never so one sided as raw numbers would suggest. As RT reporter Murad Gazdiev found out, when a Ukrainian drone came looking for him, and the soldiers he was embedded with.

An Instagram ‘influencer’ who was caught filming and cheering on a gang of looters in Philadelphia on Wednesday has, unsurprisingly, taken to social media to protest her innocence and beg for cash. Dayjia Blackwell, aka ‘Meatball,’ aka the one yelling ‘GOT ONE!’ and ‘FREE AH PHONES!,’ took to Instagram Live on Thursday, in a stream that now appears to have been mostly deleted. Blackwell complained to her followers that she was ‘traumatized,’ that the cops ‘did her dirty,’ and demanded that all charges be ‘expunged’ from her record. She insisted that she was ‘not a trouble person’ and that she ‘didn’t know this s*** would go this far.’ This is despite Blackwell having filmed herself yelling ‘Tell the police if they lock me up tonight, it’s going to be lit, it’s going to be a movie!’ She didn’t seem too traumatized at the time. In order to get over her ‘trauma,’ Blackwell declared she needed to go ‘treat herself,’ and plugged her CashApp handle, ordering her followers to ‘go bless her’ as a ‘welcome home’ present. Meanwhile she faces charges of Burglary, Conspiracy, Criminal Trespass, Riot, Criminal Mischief, Criminal Use of Communication Facility, Receipt of Stolen Property, and Disorderly Conduct. Quite an impressive list for someone who claims to have been an innocent bystander.

A female student was violently assaulted by a transgender student at an Oregon middle school, fueling fears that male students identifying as female poses a real safety risk for young girls. The attack happened at Hazelbrook Middle School in Tualatin, where a young transgender student (who is male, but identifies as female) came up behind a significantly smaller student (who is actually female) and, to bring back an old-school term, goes upside her head, drags her on the ground by the hair, before administering some effeminate slaps. It’s unclear what provoked the trans student, but the victim was heard afterwards (while crying) ‘I didn’t do anything!’ The girl’s mother (the real girl, not the fake one) took to social media to blast the school, the attacker, and society in general. ‘I cannot even put into words my anger at the situation after watching this horrific video,’ she said, but lamented ‘I can't do anything because I will ultimately end up in jail.’ Adding some context, she said ‘he is known for being a bully and has done this to several girls. He is clearly targeting females.’ Tualatin police have said they are investigating the incident, so expect the mother to be arrested for hate speech any day now, and the attacker to be given a national holiday.

Two Pakistani politicians debating on television decided to settle things the old fashioned way and the argument descended into an all-out fist fight. The skirmish occurred during a panel discussion on ‘Kal Tak,’ an Express News talk show hosted by Javed Chaudhary. In the left corner (of the screen, that is), wearing red, Sher Afzal Khan Marwat, lawyer for Imran Khan and prominent figure of Khan’s Pakistan Movement for Justice Party (PTI). In the right corner (of the screen, that is), Senator Afnan Ullah Khan of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The prize: conclusively proving that the other is, in fact, a ‘bootlicker,’ or at least that appears to be what prompted the fight. Marwat opened the fight with a slap to the head. Khan responded with a holding maneuver and some light shoving. As the battle intensified, family honor was called into question. However, despite starting the round on the defensive, Khan was able to pin Marwat to the ground and deliver the conclusive kick that prompted crewmembers to stop the fight. Khan later took to Twitter (or ‘X’ if you’re edgy and weird) to claim victory in the fight. ‘I believe in non-violence,’ he wrote, ‘the trick that has been put on Marwat is an important lesson for all PTI and especially for Imran Khan, they will not be able to see the shape, they will have to wear big black glasses.’ Khan, however, questioned the editing of the contest, which painted him as the aggressor. ‘If Javed Chaudhry kindly shares the entire 6:30-minute clip, everything will be clear,’ he said.

Joe Biden, who according to many outlets is President of the United States of America, has once again fought against his greatest nemesis: words. This week’s highly anticipated bout between Biden and basic words came from Arizona, during the inauguration of a library dedicated to the late US Senator John McCain. The fight was over almost before it began. In a surprise move, words brought in fellow Biden Cinematic Universe arch villains ‘dates’ and ‘lies about Biden's past’ to deliver the kind of three-on-one spanking that you normally have to pay really good money for. ‘The first meeting I attended of the G7, the seven wealthiest nations in the world, in Europe, the NATO meeting, I sat down, it was in Feb…? Feb? January, after being elected, so, late January, no uh, early February? And it was in England.’ While commentators and analysts will likely spend the next few decades picking over that pseudo-sentence, we will just note that a) the G7 was held in Brussels in June 2021 b) he visited England for the NATO summit later that same month, and c) ‘elected’ is such an interesting choice of word.

Florida man Orlando Young has been charged with child neglect resulting in great bodily harm after a young relative he was watching shot herself in the hand with his gun. Three-year-old Serenity was staying at her grandmother’s house with her four-year-old brother, along with Young. CCTV footage shows Young getting up off the couch to celebrate a touchdown while watching football on his laptop. It was at that moment Serenity eyed the loaded gun left on the couch. Seconds later, she picked up the gun, only to shoot herself in the hand and detach one of her fingers. Serenity was rushed to hospital where, thankfully, she was able to recover, with her family hopeful that the reattached finger will be saved. Robin Fuller, Serenity’s other grandmother, blasted the family on Facebook for their negligence, but was thankful the incident wasn’t worse. ‘I don’t want them over there ever again,’ she said. As for Young himself, was released on bond pending trial… but not before picking up another charge, after punching a fellow inmate while in jail.

Pranksters Vovan and Lexus did it again. Their latest prank comes just a week after the Ukrainian government suspended its US-born transgender military spokesperson, Sarah Ashton-Cirillo, for claiming that Ukraine was going to hunt down Russian propagandists.

Researchers have managed to film an extremely rare ghost ‘Dumbo’ octopus, some 5,518ft (1,682 metres) deep off the coast of Hawaii. The creature gets its name, unsurprisingly, from its pale translucent appearance, and its two big ‘ears,’ which it uses to flap around in the water. It can be seen doing just this in the footage, to which the researchers react with delight, with one scientist calling them ‘flappy, flappy ears’ (probably not a genuine scientific term, but we wish it were). Dumbo octopuses usually measure around 20-30 cm, but this guy came in at a whopping 60cm, which does make him an elephant of sorts. Naturally the internet fell in love with the octopus, demanding plushies and commenting that he was ‘shaped like a friend.’ And not the crappy kind of friend who borrows your hedge clippers and never returns them. This guy would never do that.

ChatGPT is now able to waste company time by browsing the internet during work hours, completely independently. Previously, the chatbot was limited to content from before September 2021, due to its programming. Now, however, ChatGPT will be able to catch up on all the stuff it’s missed, like the TMFINR woman, being able to put itself in a Barbie avatar, and failing at Wordle once a day. You know, vital things. Access to information from the present internet is currently only available to paying users, but OpenAI says it plans to expand the service to include non-paying plebs ‘soon.’ However, given the numerous accusations of left-wing political bias plaguing the chatbot and its creators, it’s a pretty safe bet that users will just be granted access to this year’s CNN articles and any good Tumblr posts about being non-binary. We would add a joke about a chatbot being non-binary, but quite frankly we’re not talented enough for that.
