presents a photo by @anthonylp.photography N I G H T S C A P E R • Award Anthony Lopez (CaptureTheNight) "Partial Lunar Eclipse above the Clouds in HDR" QUOTING Anthony: A special event occured yesterday night in UK, Africa , Asia and Europe : The Partial Lunar Eclipse. Here in France we could see the full show but even if it's not the most spectacular event of the year we can still see the bottom of the moon diving in the shadow of the Earth. But what really is a Partial Lunar Eclipse? A Partial Lunar Eclipse is when the Earth aligns between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow on the lunar surface. For this picture I needed to get the best of different exposures at the right time around 10pm ( the best time to see the partial eclipse. As the moon was so high in the sky I couldn't find any foreground so I decided to take some clouds passing in front of the Moon. Thankfully the clouds weren't an issue and I could see the full process. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! A SUGGESTION from ROYCE: Watch @anthonylp.photography's video Reel of the lunar eclipse! presents a photo by @binh90.astrophotos N I G H T S C A P E R • Award Binh Le Thanh Sacred Heart Catholic Church – Gurrundah, NSW QUOTING Binh Le Thanh: "The first church in Gurrundah was a small timber building, dating from the mid to late 1800s. Additions were carried out in 1896 and a fence around the property was built in 1899. By 1918, it was decided to replace the old church and fundraising began in earnest. The foundation stone was blessed, in December 1918, by the Right Rev. Dr. Gallagher, Bishop of Goulburn, accompanied by the Rev. Fathers Carson and J. McDade, of Goulburn. The unpretentious brick building was designed by architect Mr. Otto Knopp to include the nave, sacristy, and porch. The building contractors were Messrs. Larcombe and Perry of Goulburn. The new church was solemnly blessed and formally opened by His Lordship, Dr. Gallagher, in March 1923. The church appears to no longer be in regular use." - from the Old Australian Churches Album Facebook page (Greg Davis). This is a composite. presents a photo by @nightscapeimages N I G H T S C A P E R • Award to Richard Tatti "All Aboard" QUOTING Richard: I've just returned [Oct 5] from a quick visit to Lake Tyrrell and if you've ever been there then you'll know about this old bus resting peacefully not far from the lake. I met a couple of friends for a night of shooting the stars in the area and after exploring a number of spots we made our way to this iconic location. I was keen to give it my light painting treatment and I'm very happy with the end result. This shot is a focal length blend with the sky shot as a tracked panorama at 35mm and the foreground shot at 20mm. presents a photo by @irockutah N I G H T S C A P E R • Award to Prajit Ravindran A perfect Solar Annular Eclipse alignment ~ "One ring to rule them all," Capitol Reef National Park, 2023 QUOTING Prajit: I have been planning this photograph for nearly a year. I visited this spot a total of 5 times in order to get the alignment right. 2 days ago I dropped my camera while making some test shots at this location. The main display of my camera cracked and stopped working.I was devastated. Luckily the electronic viewfinder of my camera was still working and I had to rely on that for the rest of the trip. All the planning helped in the end. I was able to get 2 perfect alignments during the different phases of the eclipse. This is one of them. #annularsolareclipse TECHNIQUE & EXIF: Single • using a Nisi solar filter.
