probably the most nerve wrecking and overwhelming event to ever happen to belle 😮‍💨 she had been training for this swimming gala for a couple of weeks now. bit by bit pushing her limit to see if she can swim 25m for 3 events (kicking with board, backstroke and freestyle). and at every training session, she will tell me it’s far and long and she gets tired half way. but still she does it, persevering and improving with every training session. during one of those training sessions, she decided that she would not be competing in the freestyle event. we even went to the gala location to train at the pool so the actual day doesn’t freak her out too much. but of course, true to her introverted and overthinking personality, she burst out in tears just before her first event. the first round of push off, she couldn’t do it. got out of the pool and hugged me saying she doesn’t want to do it. i needed to say all the right things and quickly asked her coach if she could join the next round of swimmers. coach @azritonyy didn’t just say yes but insisted i walk next to the pool at the lane she was swimming in so she would feel more comfortable. with some convincing and motivation, she went in and started swimming but just as she started kicking, she stopped at the side and started shaking her head. i did what i could and said “you can do it baby, you’re already swimming!” and so she did. pushed herself all the way to the end 🥺 i thought she’d feel better and be less nervous for her backstroke, still had tears but this time, started swimming during push off and finished it 💪🏻 overall, i’m proud she didn’t just give up and want to go home 🫠 i’m proud of her perseverance and determination and finishing the race. to her first swimming race and hopefully, many more to come! 💪🏻🏅 are you ready for more @asyrafbux ? 😂 special thanks to coach @azritonyy for training her and believing in her and always pushing her to be better. special thanks to @official.aquademic for having a special prize giving session for the youngest swimmers 🥹 special thanks to our family for being there and special thanks to @sofeamastan, omar and maryam for constantly cheering her on ❤️

The best way to get your kids to say “Water Please” is definitely making the mundane boring everyday task seem fun!
