The tripod fish (Bathypterois grallator) is a deep-sea fish known for its peculiar method of locomotion. It gets its name from the elongated rays of its pelvic and lower caudal fins, which it uses like a tripod to stand on the seafloor. Tripod fish are found in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, typically at depths of 1,200 to 4,700 meters. They can reach lengths of up to 37 centimeters (14.5 inches). One of the most interesting aspects of tripod fish (besides the more obvious ones) is their adaptations to living in the extreme conditions of the deep sea. They have highly sensitive, hair-like structures on their fins that help them detect the movement of prey in the water around them. This is particularly important because at those depths, it is too dark to rely on vision. Tripod fish are also notable for their unique feeding strategy. They face against the current and catch small invertebrates and fish that float by, using their long, fan-like pectoral fins. Interestingly, while they have eyes, it’s thought that they are largely non-functional due to the extreme depths at which these fish live. Their primary sensory organ is their lateral line, which can detect vibrations in the water.

« This is rare! » 🤩 Cloud Iridescence, a mesmerizing optical dance that paints the clouds with hues reminiscent of soap bubbles and oil on water. 🌥️🌈 This enchanting phenomenon, often found in altocumulus, cirrocumulus, and cirrus clouds, casts a pastel symphony that sometimes mirrors the iridescence of mother-of-pearl. When the Sun or Moon joins the spectacle, it’s a hidden treasure waiting to be unveiled, a secret whispered to those who shield their eyes from the glare. As the heavens reveal their vibrant palette, we’re reminded of nature’s artistry that’s both fleeting and timeless. ✨🌤️ Source « US - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration » 🎥 @girlchill_sunset

@bahrul_angsaputih Kapas Biru Waterfall is the first of a trio of awesome waterfalls that can be visited on a day trip from Malang or Lumajang, East Java. Also known as Air Terjun Kapas Biru (in Indonesian), this is a huge waterfall set against an orange rock wall, surrounded by prehistoric looking jungles and giant bamboo trees. #lavatoursemeru #sarkawi_sumberurip #pronojiwo #kapasbiru #panorama #semeru #lumajang
