We often discuss the idea of an « attainable physique, » but rarely do we delve into the mental toll that enhancing yourself can have. The obsessive thoughts that creep in when not on it, just for a few more times... It may have given you so much—recognition, strength, confidence, a long-lasting pump, or whatever it might be. Before turning to external substances, commit 100% to consuming clean, non-processed foods and stop from training halfway, no distraction, just you and the weights. Go all out and discover what you are truly made of, so you won’t question what you can accomplish on your own. Don’t rush things for quick rewards; they can impact your hormones, lead you to rely on other substances for the rest of your life, accelerate aging, and much more. It requires careful consideration beyond merely looking good for praise. I commend everyone who has walked that path and is sharing the downsides of it; that takes courage. Like all my hockey coaches told us when plays weren’t going our way, go back to basics, remove all the fluff, and just master the rudimentary. Surround yourself with badass people you would go to war with. If you extrapolate a concept/idea to its extreme, often times the path will become very clear. War analogy is a great example of this philosophy. These two were there in some of the worst moments of my life and they kept pushing. They supported me, they saw me sleep on the floor at the office and helped anyway they could. They can count on me and I can count on them.
