El poder realizar el Fidelio de Beethoven en Venezuela,en un ámbito académico, junto a la Coral Nacional Juvenil y la Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar de Venezuela, a todos sus directores y a los extraordinarios solistas internacionales, ha representado la mas fuerte y viva prueba de que el maestro Abreu está presente en cada uno de nosotros. Me enorgullece especialmente el haber podido llevar Fidelio a la Comunidad Sorda de mi país, representada al más alto nivel por los jóvenes artistas de nuestro querido Coro Manos Blancas, como el más luminoso símbolo de integración. El compromiso, la disciplina y el amor que han entregado todos estos jovenes para la realización de esta obra tan crucial del repertorio operático es verdaderamente ejemplar y es muestra poderosa de que El Sistema está más vivo que nunca. Que viva la música, que viva El Sistema. — 𝑭𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒐 These past two weeks have been profoundly beautiful and transcendent. Having the opportunity to explore Beethoven’s “Fidelio” in an educational context in Venezuela, together with the young students of the Coral Nacional Simón Bolívar and the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar de Venezuela, and all of the extraordinary directors and international soloists, has proven in the strongest and most vivid way that Maestro Abreu is present in each and every one of us. I am especially proud to have been able to bring Fidelio to the Deaf Community of my country, represented at the highest level by the young artists of our beloved Coro de Manos Blancas, as the most luminous symbol of integration. The commitment, discipline and love that all these young people have given for the realization of this vital operatic work is has shown that, beyond a shadow of a doubt, El Sistema is more alive than ever. A los 16 años tuve mi primera experiencia con una sinfonía de Mahler. Desde entonces, siempre sentí que la obra de Mahler es casi perfecta. Cada sinfonía está escrita con tanto detalle – sus composiciones existen sin exageración. Hablan por sí mismas. Cada sinfonía se distingue por su propia personalidad musical, pero la Mahler 9 se destaca como la más trascendental. Mahler estaba obsesionado con el contraste entre la vida y la muerte, y la exuberante grandiosidad de la novena sinfonía ilustra esta obsesión a medida que gradualmente disminuye al ‘adagissimo’, un guiño sutil a avanzar hacia “el paso siguiente”. Mi relación con la @berlinphil comenzó con la música latinoamericana. Cuando debuté hace 15 años, encontramos nuevos significados en las obras de Silvestre Revueltas, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Arturo Márquez, Manuel de Falla y otros. Para mí es muy importante programar música latinoamericana y de América con una orquesta a la que considero como familia porque es esencial a mi identidad. Estoy ansioso de compartir un fin de semana de descubrimientos con esta querida orquesta, mientras exploramos la música de @gabrielaortizcomposer, Charles Ives y Alberto Ginastera con mi hermano @genuinesergiotiempo. Programming Latin American and American music with an orchestra that I think of as family is very important to me because it is essential to my identity and I look forward to sharing a weekend of discoveries with this beloved orchestra as we explore the music of Gabriela Ortiz, Charles Ives, and Alberto Ginastera with my brother Sergio Tiempo.
