Our Georgia Air National Guard @165thairliftwing flew the first official mission out of Wunstorf Air Base, Germany in preparation for exercise #AirDefender 2023 (AD23) earlier this month. Nearly 60 Airmen from the 165th Airlift Wing will continue to support tactical airlift missions and train during this multinational German-led exercise #AD23 through the end of June. WELCOME HOME Soliders of the 170th MP BN, Georgia Army National Guard! Soldiers from the SPARTAN Battalion just returned from a busy three weeks in Grafenwöhr, Germany in support of M3 CPX DEFENDER 23. The Soldiers assumed the role of a MP Brigade during the Warfighter, focusing on the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP), Tactical Operations Center (TOC) operations, and battle tracking. Juneteenth was designated as a federal holiday commemorating the order issued by Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger proclaiming the freedom of all slaves held in bondage in the state of Texas June 19, 1865. Juneteenth began as an annual celebration in Galveston, Texas, and over the years has spread to other states serving as an opportunity to celebrate African American culture. This day reminds us of how far we have come as a nation and allows us to redouble our efforts to ensure that all our servicemembers and civilian employees have an unobstructed path to achieve their full potential. Happy Father's Day! Today we recognize the contributions fathers make to families and society. The first Father's Day was observed in 1908 following the first observance of Mother's Day. The first observations were local in nature. It was not until 1966 that President Lyndon Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers. Six years later Father's Day was recognized as a national holiday. Father's Day allows us to pay tribute to those who have shaped us and instilled in us the values that make us who we are. While your methods of celebrations may vary from gifts to trips or just spending time together, I hope this day provides you with warm experiences and memories."
