Are y’all feeling summer-body ready yet? I feel like I still have some prepping to do but checking in for a re-up on my laser hair removal is always a big one for me so I’m glad that @lasermepleasemiami squeezed me in! 🙌🏽 I didn’t have enough time to get a facial and a skin-tightening treatment on my stomach like I wanted but I’ll just pop back in next week. ✨ I’m naturally pretty hairy and I always tell y’all that hair grows almost everywhere on my body except my eyebrows 😩 so I’m still amazed that I’m living a life without battling a razor blade daily to tame these legs! I barely have any unwanted hair growth these days but when I do, the hair grows very thin and fine now. Love it! What is it about being on the water that is soooo rejuvenating?! There is magic there for sure!✨I needed this so bad! @Rah_Ali and I were talking on the deck, right before she went inside, and I told her that I always see a dolphin when I’m out on Miami waters and 10 mins later, one was diving along side the boat!🐬 If @flavoursbyendiya hadn’t been prepping the food outside and saw it, no one would have believed me!!! 😂 I started this week off with waves, sun, laughs, amazing food, drunk convos, dope energy and did I mention food?? I had to hurry and take my pictures before I ate cause y’all know how I get down! 🤪 Anyway, it’s Taco Tuesday and imma be in the kitchen later so check my stories! Sharing some accountability with y’all today! I don’t know if it was fear, I don’t know if it was self-doubt, I don’t know if my soul just knew it wasn’t time yet but that’s over. I know that I have a greater calling and that I haven’t been walking in my purpose…I’m about to start running though! ✨Are y’all good at checking yourself when you know you’ve gotten off of your path?

Full disclosure…I used to really hate my name! Lol! As a kid, I got into the habit of getting quiet immediately after introducing myself to someone new, prepping for the customary response of, “Really?! That’s my dad’s name!” or “Oh, that’s my brother’s name!” or “Crazy, that’s my cousin’s name…he’s a boy, btw!” No shit! 😂 At some point that began to make me uncomfortable, you know how easy it is to form insecurities as an adolescent lol, so I quickly added that to my growing pile. I felt like my name was an error, a mistake and I carried that feeling for a long time. These days I relish in being unique and I find so much freedom in releasing all of the things that, that little girl carried while thinking her individuality wasn’t beautiful. ✨ Darnell means “Hidden Nook” and in the Middle Ages, the word was used to describe a village concealed by nature. 🌿 Now isn’t that fitting…☺️🙌🏽💓 What does your name mean?

I don’t know where I would be without my baby. I’ve made so many mistakes in this lifetime but she is a constant reminder of what I’ve done right…what I’m consistently doing right. My little Carson Cree is the brightest light and pouring love, wisdom, understanding, quality time, protection, etc., into her feels a lot like pouring into and healing my own inner child. Ahhh the lessons being a mommy has taught me! Reliving life and seeing the world through her eyes has been the greatest gift that I never imagined receiving. My lil CreeBee🐝 Mommy loves you beyond!

Maaaaan when I tell y’all that Catholic guilt is HEAVY!!! Everyone won’t be able to connect with my experience and that’s ok. I think we don’t talk enough about the long term effects of telling an adolescent that many of the minuscule things they do throughout the day can lead to them burning for eternity. I was singled out as a little girl and told that I would be especially sinful because looking in the mirror more than once a day was not only a sin but was punishable by fire. I didn’t even understand why they were saying that as I was a tomboy and more focused on climbing trees than looking in a mirror but it stuck with me nonetheless. Planting fear of that level in a growing mind does irreparable damage but I will keep working through it to find a comfortable space that speaks to my heart and connects me to my creator. 💓🙌🏽@womaneyesthepodcast #Religion #Spirituality

Despite being raised in similarly religious households, we had vastly different experiences. While Faven feels validated by her religious upbringing, I have struggled with the trauma that mine left me with. Over the past few years, I have distanced myself from organized religion and embraced spirituality while working hard to heal from teachings that left me feeling insecure, fearful, brainwashed, unworthy, unsupported, lost, and hell-bound. Faven, on the other hand, developed a deep and proud connection with her religion at a young age. Our conversation, though uncomfortable at times, was an honest and raw exploration of our perspectives on religion and spirituality. These are pieces of my bench-press journey and I say pieces because there are soooo many more “fail” clips that I couldn’t add to this 17 second sound bite lol. I’d never done bench-presses before so I struggled for weeks to push that bar without any weights. Lol I needed to build up those muscles that weren’t used to so much excitement. Sometimes I feel stuck in place like I’m not progressing and that’s because I barely remember what I was doing before or who I was before, so this is my little reminder to myself. I barely remember because my focus is not on what’s behind me and it’s ok to feel like things aren’t moving forward as long as I just keep moving. That’s the lesson right there! Focusing on what’s ahead is sometimes just as detrimental as focusing on what’s behind. Im thankful for where my feet are currently planted. That’s all! ☺️💓🙌🏽
