Training often makes the hard stuff look not as hard 💪🏽

I am very grateful for a couple things: Kobe recognizes that I enjoy shoulder workouts, and I got to embrace both of them this morning before school. While yesterday’s tragedy is truly sad, I choose faith that my kids will be protected, I choose joy in the life we continue to share, and I feel the heartache that a parent can experience from the loss of a child. A walk in faith doesn’t mean the absence of discomfort, but it does mean I have a refuge in an immensely loving God who sees my struggles - and who allows my positivity to be a light for others ♥️ “You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.” Psalm 119:114

What I learned from my mom is that we don’t need a perfect relationship for me to honor her. That’s my decision to be obedient as a believer. My truth - my lack of a really joyful bond with you, my avoidance of meaningful relationships in general, it really didn’t lead to only negative stuff. I think that us not having a great relationship helped me understand what I missed. My imperfections helped uncover my strengths as a man and allowed me to have grace for people who have hurt me. You never meant to cause hurt even when you did. I won’t let my issues keep me from honoring that you brought me into this world. There wouldn’t be a Kobe, Camden, Jordan, or a Coach Trey All Day without you. Thank you for giving me life, thank you for the letters and cards over the years. Thanks for loving my boys and sending them cards and letters too ♥️ #happymothersday
