Paul worked on a horse farm 🐎 as a teenager, a seasoned dog parent with a lifetime of experience. Steve grew to gradually love dogs over their 27-year relationship and together, they spoiled their own with the best of both city🌆 and country🏡 life until their dogs’ journeys came to an end. They were ready for a new companion (and weren’t really expecting to fall in love with a pitbull…but here they were and they had)! A short day trip to their place quickly became a sleepover, and Bernie became @bennett_thepit — named for the #inwood avenue they met him on. repost from @rescuzillanyc : After nearly losing his life in a house fire, a sweet male pittie was brought to @amcny ‘s Emergency Service. With severe smoke inhalation and secondary pneumonia, he spent a week in oxygen in the ICU before he was stable enough to meet us, and just a few days later we made it official. Meet the newest #rzadoptable, Bernie! This easygoing dweeb has been a joy to rescue from day one. Charming his foster sister with his playful moves, greeting neighborhood kids with gentle curiosity, and even soliciting the cranky shop cat at the local pet supply. Bernie will need some additional veterinary care prior to adoption, but we know he’s going to change someone’s life for the better as soon as he’s all spruced up and ready.
