I RETURNED to this location last week in an attempt to redeem myself following a blunder 5 years ago where I shot a rad lapse, but all the gear crapped out on me. It isn't quite the right time of year and this was mostly a gear test for an upcoming project I have in the works. It was a success albeit my lens is super broken. The shot was an 8 hour 4ft slider timelapse tucked about 25 feet down in a lava crack. The best time of year is in early spring during a quarter moon and when the milky will line directly up with the crack. Can you spot the Andromeda Galaxy and Jupiter? I'll be building a timelapse film over the next three seasons and I'm glad to know I have a couple sliders/systems figured out. I plan to do a bunch of live IG and TikTok videos of me setting up gear and answering questions along the journey, so spread the word and get the questions ready! Good evening from the desert! We literally rolled up to a playa near the Mojave after a full day of driving when I tuck and rolled out of the truck for a quick snap. Now for dinner and a movie. I'm filming in the area for the next few days and I'm so glad to be back in warm temps. It's 85° right now. Enjoy the pastel colors of this evenings desert set. HAVE YOU EVER thought to yourself, what are all the things this universe has to offer that I’m most drawn to? We as a species seem to be drawn to the things that govern our existence. Our star, the Sun, feeds all life on this earth and our soul. The ocean, the water on our planet that dictates the weather and holds our fragile lives in check. The stars above keeping us humble and constantly reminding us of our tiny place in the vastness of the universe. The unexplainable, keeping our curious minds seeking meaning and our place in it all. For me it’s imperative to visit and meditate in all these various places and those alike to find clarity and comfort during the bumpy ride we call life. It’s a personal check-in and a recalibration when needed. I’ve been out hunting these moments in various ways on a misson with my friends at @ubcobikes. I’ve been building a short story of how crucial these moments are for me. Luckily living the lifestyle I do, we can turn ship when needed and find the places that best compliments our lives at that time. I’m grateful for the story thus far and will be sharing soon. TWILIGHT last night did not disappoint!

AS WE CONTINUE to get hammered by rain the last few days, filming has been minimal. It's not too often I get pushed out of an area due to weather while on a production, but with a family in tow, I think an audible is necessary. Therefore! Here are a few images taken before bringing your family to work day everyday was a thing AND more from my Yosemite journey a handful of years back😜. Weather always makes the work better! However, we have one or two more days in this region before we turn south for a more conducive living environment for the family. That being said, the next location is going on to be incredible! THIS FAMILY is ready for the desert. We've been pushing our luck when it comes to weather and the season. We are typically further south into warmer temps by now, but a project has us riding the edge of weather and storms further north than we'd like. We are currently trapped in the camper along the coast getting hammered by a torrential downpour. All I need is two more shots before we move inland and then eventually south into warmer more hospitable living conditions. We're still looking for a home base, but we will have to do that from afar! Soon we'll return to our desert friends amongst the cholla, ocotillo, and tarantulas. We're looking forward to the dark skies and warmer days. Now it's time to pack up a little wet, get our shot and head inland towards ice cold nights, falling leaves and possibly snow. Wish us luck!

I HAVE A FILM PROJECT starting down here in the Redwoods. The weather is absolutely perfect! 80 degrees yesterday! First we're headed to say hello to Sequoia and then film our way back up the coast. It'll be an emotional, but beautiful day. What's more is watching the kiddos eyes being filled with amazement at their surroundings. This place never gets old.

WIDE SHOT OF MY RECENT LAPSE // There I am, perched out in the nothing as we all hurdle through the vastness of the universe. You can see me hiking back to my truck, spike the camera with my light, work a while, and then eventually the light goes out as the world spins madly on. A small metaphor for life and a dose of perspective. Enjoy the ride everyone. Total lapse - 8.5 hours blue hour to blue hour.

December 2016 // I was down in the valley with my pup Sequoia shooting lights out for almost two weeks. This trip I was able to capture some of my favorite work from the valley. BAJA may not be in the cards this winter. This would have been our fifth winter spent down there. Where it sounds so lovely and we'll miss the beaches, friends, the good food etc. I think a new adventure is afoot. It still may consist of the desert, but staying stateside and continuing to look for a homebase is more our speed atm. I have a million things to do after shooting for a straight decade that need to get out of my hard drives! There will still be a mountain of adventures, but Baja we will miss you this winter!

SO MANY YEARS in a row I've been in the valley this time of year and it's absolutely perfect. Less crowds, more animals, and the changing colors. Over the years this place has become near and dear to my heart as it has for so many from time immemorial. Although I'm not a climber, I covet the large granite walls as they continue to humble and give me perspective with every visit. I hope you're all enjoying your fall.

STORY TIME // I’m not sure how many people remember this photo. I shot this about a decade ago, my first double milky. Cameras have come so far! Believe it or not we were leaving a fishing spot when I yelled for my buddy to turn around and hold still! One of the more populated areas of grizzlies in Alberta. We had protection, but it was FRIGHTENING during the long exposures. I hope you’re all preparing for a lovely fall weekend. The leaves!
