To, Dobby, the free elf. How is it? How is it up there? It has been a very rough year. It doesn’t feel the same without you. I remember the first time I met you; jumping on Harry Potter’s bed. You gave him a hard time that year. It was hard for you as well to go against your masters and warn him about the horrific events at Hogwarts. But you did it anyway to save his life.You were brave. Brave to intercept the Harry’s letters. Brave to go against your (then) masters to warn Harry and stop him from not going to Hogwarts. Brave to rescue Harry and his friends. You are unlike any other house-elf. You loved your time as a free elf whereas others thought the gesture of freedom is shameful. When you earned your freedom by getting a sock, they always held a special place in your heart. During your time as a free elf, you took up collecting socks, trying to find all the interesting pairs. You even shared this love with Harry, knitting him a personalized set of socks for Christmas. That was the cutest and sweetest gesture ever. You also got friends. Not just Harry, Ron and Hermoine, but all of us. You are one the best friends anyone could ask for. You always had their back. You were always there, ready to help your friends without any regrets. Even when it cost your life, you were happy to be with your friends. I am beyond happy to call you my friend. I learnt a lot from you. I learnt to have courage, to stand up against the wrong, to stand up for friends and family, to be kind and help those in need. You have taught us the priceless value of friendship.
