It’s been a while since I’ve posted any updates and I feel terrible… So I’m gonna get the ball rolling again with these RARE and KICKASS heavy metal heaters from bands like Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, and W.A.S.P. to name a few!! Today’s drop! We’ve got the OG Raw Power that was on my story a few days ago and man does it sound amazing given the condition it’s in. Gave it a deep Spin Clean to make sure any extra gunk was removed. Actually everything here has been cleaned and most play tested. Both Pink Floyd’s The Wall and A Saucerful Of Secrets are in really nice shape, and A Farewell To Kings is just shy of NM. The records I’m most excited about though are the 12 near mint Beatles albums that just came in! While 9/12 of them are 1978 purple label reissues and MMT a 1976 orange label reissue, ALL of them are minty as hell. Most still in the shrink wrap too, so if you’re missing a few Beatles releases look no further! Also got 5 OG Elvis Costello LPs among others. Jacket - VG • Matrix Runouts: Side 1: EKS 74051 A-CP-1 SS LH P [stamped] Side 2: EKS 74051 B CP-1 SS LH P [stamped] • Playback videos shown in order: Side 1, Track A1 - “1969” Side 1, Track A3 - “We Will Fall” Side 2, Track B1 - “No Fun” Side 2, Track B4 - “Not Right” • I needed to highlight this album because it’s not just one of my greatest finds so far, but it’s one of those rare and elusive releases that are difficult to find (in good shape at least). The music was also a precursor and major influence for later bands who embraced the hard garage rock style of The Stooges that was way ahead of its time. “1969” is a personal favorite of mine and God do I wish I was in my late teens when this record came out… • While it’s evident the sleeve has cover wear, edge wear and creasing, there are NO seam splits and it’s still in good shape! The vinyl has some sporadic superficial marks/scratches but it plays through them with ease! Overall sound is fantastic. There are just a few areas where background crackle can be heard in which the music overpowers. No major pops, clicks, or skips. I’ve play-tested this LP several times to ensure precise grading. All of them are in near mint or mint condition too! • The Blues And The Abstract Truth, Mingus Ah Um, AND Conception have all been marked down $30! All 3 are original pressings in fantastic condition. Art Blakey’s Mosaic is the only reissue here (1978) but maaan is it minty and has RVG stampers in the runouts. Charles Mingus - Blues & Roots is an essential jazz album that fully harnesses the power of the blues in hard bop. The result is a joyously swinging outing full of soul and heart. This copy is drop dead gorgeous and sounds amazing. But perhaps the premier grail from this entire batch (and my favorite) is Sonny Rollins’ Way Out West. Somehow the stars aligned and this copy isn’t just in great condition… it’s basically in MINT condition. This post has nothing to do with records or my business. But I got to see TOOL last night with my Uncle and I had the time of my life. I’ll be honest - the gigantic amount of medical marijuana I ingested prior to and during the show changed what I was witnessing from a concert to a fucking experience. I’m now a changed man. I am experienced. The talent these 4 men have is incalculable. Their presence on stage is like nothing I’ve ever seen or heard before. Vinyl is completely spotless, shiny as hell, and sounds 10/10. • My father and I constantly ask ourselves what the greatest debut albums of all time are. To be honest we’ve talked about it too much at this point. Though every single time the conversation comes up the very first album we both immediately blurt out is this one. Musically, it’s one of those rare albums that doesn’t have a single bad song on it. Listening to it all the way through is always an experience for me. • Jeff Ament & Stone Gossard laying down some beautifully crafted rhythms, Dave Krusen’s drums keeping everything in motion, Mike McCready’s silky smooth guitar licks… and who could possibly listen to this album and not be completely blown away by Eddie Vedder’s powerfully distinctive baritone vocals? The answer is no one, unless your ears are broken. Also crazy to think it all started in 1990 while Vedder was working at a gas station in SC and was given a tape by Jack Irons who told him a band from Seattle was looking for a singer. Eddie listened to the tape of Pearl Jam instrumentals, went for a surf session, and came back with some lyrics for what would become the songs Alive, Once, and Footsteps. • P.S. The song Black may very well be my favorite song of all time.
