🛑 [MEDIA WARNING: human trafficking and exploitation] There is an unspeakable crime happening very close to all of us, and we may not even be aware of how nearby it is. Human trafficking is a criminal violation of human rights, involving force, coercion, or fraud to exploit a person into slave labor or sexual exploitation. It can happen to people of all ages and genders, of any race or religious background. Women are often used for sexual exploitation, while men are usually used for forced labor. About 80 percent of all trafficked individuals are female, about 50 percent are children. A common misconception about human trafficking is that it doesn't happen in the United States. According to data from the National Human Trafficking Hotline, the United States is ranked as one of the worst countries globally for human trafficking, with an estimated 199,000 incidents occurring every year. This is happening all around us. It's closer than you think. And those caught within need to know help is out there, and that hope is not lost. Our charity partner for the next PHRC event is @InOurBackyard. In Our Backyard is known for posting 'Freedom Stickers' in every state across America. Over 500,000 of these stickers to date have helped create access to freedom for victims and survivors of human trafficking. REJOICE! Our annual holiday celebration is back on the calendar. It's the triumphant return of our annual Fanthropy™️ Yule Ball! On Friday, December 10th, Random Tuesday, Inc. welcomes the members of our Fanthropy Running Clubs and their guests for a night of well-mannered fan-tastic frivolity! For years, the Yule Ball has been the year-end celebration of all the good our community has done for themselves, for one another, and for the charity partners that have become an extended part of this amazing global family. The event will take place from 7 PM to midnight on December 10th at the awe-inspiring Bill Miller's Castle in Branford, Connecticut: less than one mile from RTI HQ. Tickets are $80 per person (includes all processing fees) for the event and a fully catered geeky-themed meal. Please note that the Yule Ball is a formal event and we are charged per head; while children are permitted, please be aware that youth tickets are the same price as adult tickets. Also, please keep in mind that the event, the meal, and the music are intended for an adult audience, so please determine if the event is appropriate for your child.
