It's a Friday evening when me and 6LACK connect over Zoom [arguably one of the most anticipated days of the week]. For most, St Patrick's Day celebrations are in full swing, erupting into utter festivities across the land. For us, the vibrations are equally as high, as we look towards exactly seven days until 6LACK's long-awaited return and the release of his third studio album Since I Have A Lover.   Now, the moment is here and 6LACK is back.   In a humble ode to embracing almost all aspects of love, 6LACK's anticipated comeback album sets the scene for an artistically ambitious return. Having left fans hungry since 2020's 6pc Hot EP, 6LACK's soul-searching examination into his own romantic capabilities is sure to satiate the appetites of even the most ravenous of palates.   In a moment of aching admiration for creativity and compassion, he tells me, "It's good to be back working - I now wake up with the mindset I used to have to force myself to have." NLE Choppa - his name being derived from the acronym of No Love Entertainment and his nickname from young - has been on an awakened journey of his own after his rapid rise to fame contradictorily left him at his lowest, despite racking up more than 3 billion streams and an array of accolades since he ‘blew up’ in 2018. A shining star thrust into the spotlight from the moment he dropped his first ever track ‘No Love Anthem’, Choppa found himself with "all the wants" but was left without "any needs." After taking a moment away to reconnect with his inner self, the ‘Shotta Flow’ hitmaker returned from his brief hiatus early last year to mark the dawn of his new-found soul-searching era with his most personal record to date, Me vs. Me (2022). Cover Story - PAUSE Meets: @kelvyncolt As a Nigerian that was born and raised in Germany, lived in London and, now, California, it’s safe to say that Kelvyn Colt has been exposed to all sorts of rich cultures throughout his 29 years. His interest in music stems from his introduction to poetry at a young age, a hobby he developed into a musical context thanks to legendary rappers such as Tupac and Biggie which, in turn, propelled his curiosity into Hip-Hop despite the lore of Germany’s buzzing techno scene. After various viral hits, a troublesome record label deal and the creation of his own label, TBHG Records, Colt finally takes a deep dive into his homeland’s musical origins by tapping into the country’s electronic pioneering sound for his latest album - GERMAN ANGST.
