Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Valerie Ray @valvray

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am Valerie Vonny Ray. I came from the country that brought you the haze, yes, Indonesia. I am currently a fresh graduate from Singapore looking for a job in the marketing industry (welcome to adulthood).

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My topic of interest is traveling, mostly, and, well, myself. I like to post sceneries when I travel because It could soothe the stressed out minds of my friends and followers who follow me. However, somehow, my instagram page is dominated with pictures of me. Guess, the human nature of narcism got the best of me.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My instagram name is pretty simple. My full name is Valerie Vonny Ray. Its a long name, so I wanted something short and simple. I wanted a “valray”, but it was taken. So, I settled with “valvray”.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Like most people, I use VSCO to edit brightness, saturation, et cetera. To edit angles and spot edit, I use snapped.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

@soniaeryka
she’s just a dear, so inspiring.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Eyelash extension!
It made such a difference in your looks and less hassle, really.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part is when after I post a certain picture, my friends would come up to me and ask where did I take the photo at and what camera did I use. I just felt like I was sharing something good that others could enjoy as well.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Less gimmicky. Some brands have this slogan and certain rules influencers have to follow. It could limit creativity, causing the influencer to look less authentic and more like a sell out (remember the marigold 1-litre carton insta campaign?).

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I think an influencer should be honest with the followers. It could be as simple as choosing the brand you endorse carefully. Endorse brands and products that you genuinely think can do good for your followers. Some influencers just take in all offers, which consequently might cause followers to lose trust on the influencers judgements.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

i have only partnered with small online shop brands on instagram.
I guess, building connections with them. It could go a long way.
