1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
A free soul! I’m an art and lifestyle freelance journalist. I do help for documenting my friends’ wedding and music showcase as well. In my spare time, I turn into a marketing manager of a little coffee shop called Banyubiru. Yes, meet new people and create new things is my routine. I’m a full breed Indonesian and still live there. Also spend a couple of time on virtual sweet home, morningsur.blogspot.com
like a normal journalist, I’m a number one fan of coffee. like no other journalist, I hate deadline (but still can deal with it).
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
people and places is the new art. and I love art! I post about places a lot, because I often have a vacation, or just stroll around the city. I more likely want people see what truly I am, so I also post about arts, books, foods, music festivals, special occasions, sports, and even potraitures on instagram.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
I’m not selfish, but I’m me! The function of my instagram is for keeping important moments of my life. I want people know the truly I am, and not the alter ego virtual version of me. So that’s why I use my name, suryalaili. That will be make me credible about issues I concern about. I want my friends as soon as possible recognize the account is mine, and also I want other will know me through this account.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
Nothing. I can use photoshop and lightroom, but as a photographer I love to challenge myself. I more prefer to push my limit for finding the right tone just using the camera itself. so when I post it to instagram, usually I just use the contrast editing basic feature on instagram. I also use old analog camera, and it gives the perfect tone that I want as well
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
timbengel and the_hula!!! They are my favorite artist. they’re really inspiring because every time they share their work through instagram, they also show the process behind it. They’ve made impossible thing to be real, they love their work, and they live with it. I’d love to meet them in person ofcourse.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Try to thankful about one simple thing in a week, and show it through a picture. such as may be you can spend a whole day at home with your mom’s cook, or you can buy your favorite dress in discount, any simple thing we usually don’t realize.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
Being heard and got feedback in advise or critics form. yes, it’s fun to try new things, but share the things is more important, doesn’t it.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
know where is the market, know who is the opinion leader, and be honest. a campaign should be a truly review about good and bad things of the brand, of the product. it will lead the brand to reach the awareness and may be top of mind in the audience.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
honesty and detail is the key. the great photoshoot or video concept will be useless with no information on it.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
attending an event. through this such activity, I will not just know the product, but also the characteristic of the brand itself. back at it again, I love meeting new people.
