Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Savannah Rose @savannah__rose

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a sales rep for Hello Kitty by day and a photographer by night (okay by weekend) in Vancouver, BC. I am originally from a small town called White Rock just south of Vancouver but have lived here for over 10 years so it’s home. When I am not traveling, I live in the West End with my boyfriend and two ridiculous cats. I started Instagram about 5 years ago and my website just a year before that to showcase my photography. I love to shoot landscapes, architecture and fashion.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Travel is absolutely my biggest passion next to photography which really go hand in hand. My favorite thing to do is travel to a new place and spend my time with my face buried in my camera.. when it’s not buried in food that is. In Vancouver I still love to explore all the city has to offer. I am lucky to live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world and I capture every square inch of it.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Well my Instagram name is my real name so I guess props to my parents are in order. Honestly I tried to come up with something super clever and fun but apparently I’m just not that creative.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

If the photos came from my DSLR (I have a Canon Rebel) they have most likely been edited on Photoshop. Phone photos are usually just edited on Instagram’s "edit" function which is surprisingly handy. If I have a photo that needs a little jazzing up I always use the HDR filter on Snap-seed. HDR always makes them oh so dreamy. I don’t really have an editing style other than I love them to be bright, vibrant and sharp AF

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I adore Chiara Ferragni from The Blonde Salad, Cara Jourdan from A Fashion Love Affair in terms of popular fashion bloggers. Honestly I am more inspired by people I know IRL. My friend Alyssa Harper of @NorthernClass constantly inspires me during our photo shoots and I love to see how she captures the adventures we experience together in her own way. My mom @nina.wood is also a huge inspiration to me in term of photography. Her photos are ON POINT.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

That’s tricky. My only thing I have is to travel as much as possible. I strongly believe it is the best thing you can do for yourself., even if it’s in your own state or province just get out there. You will be thankful later.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Meeting new people! I love connecting with people that have the same interests but I otherwise wouldn’t have met. I’ve been introduced to so many amazing people via Instagram or that have contacted me through my blog.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Don’t accept a campaign for something you would never use or a product you don’t back. It’s so easy to tell when someone is posting for the sake of free stuff. I have a retail background so I can say with absolute certainty that it is so much easier to sell/promote a brand that you actually love. Be honest but not rude, even if you are sent something and don’t really jive with it, be honest in your review but not defamatory. If it’s something you really don’t support send it back! Staying true to yourself is far more respectable than selling out for a free jar of face cream.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I think it goes without saying that an good quality, original photo is important for so many reasons. I really can’t stand blurry or low quality images, not trying to be a snob but even the lowest grade cameras and cellphones these days produce a decent image if you hold still. With so many incredible photos out these days ain’t no body got time for blurry, unoriginal photos. The whole point of sharing your photos is to show people into your life not to show people how well you emulate someone else’s.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love the idea of working with a new brand and sharing it with everyone. I am picky so if I am promoting something you know it’s good!
