Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Sam Pui Yee @puiyeesss

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a girl, living in a concrete jungle in Kuala Lumpur, the beautiful capital city of Malaysia, summer all year long yay! The baby fashionista never dies and I always like to play styling. So Im’ma my own doll and I like to style myself and capture it through the lens.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love content related to fashion and styling, and that’s what I post mostly, OOTD and stuff. Whereas the rest of my day to day life goes to my Insta Story, my current obsession.
I also followed accounts which also share content about fashion, pop art, skateboarding, and meme (need some dosage of humor daily to keep my life going)!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It started while I was creating an email ID. Puiyee is an extremely common name among Malaysian, so I wanted Puiyee.s, but it’s taken, so I was a little frustrated and go on the keyboard like Puiyeesss and boom! It’s available. So I took the username and stuck with it then on.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

To be honest, I’m still learning, as of now I only use 2 apps to edit my pictures. I always start with Snapseed to tune the color and brightness of the picture, then I will import my picture to VSCO for filter and exposure adjustment. I prefer the version of exposure in VSCO more.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Bella Hadid!! Well she’s not an instagrammers but I really like her Instagram pictures a lot!!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Do not just stand and pose for your #OOTD. Be adventurous! Sit on the floor or even lay on it if you need to. LOL

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I won’t call myself an influencer, but I just love sharing things that interest me, and I like how Instagram work to bring like-minded people together as a community.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Running a campaign is not only effort of marketing, it goes from backstage to operation team to eventually present it to the end user. If the operation team is not doing a good job, then all effort for a good campaign by the marketer and influencer is totally ruined, even the reputation of influencer will be affected.
Always maintain your personality in the content you produce, I believe that’s what make you YOU!

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

As I mentioned above, your content is some sort of a reflection of you, put your personality in it, do not lose it.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I get to learn about all sorts of new products available in the market, even in beauty product, there’s new technology involved, can you imagine that?
Of course most importantly meeting new people, be it brand partners or influencer.
