Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Morgan Higdon @Morguehigdon

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I come from Kentucky originally but I live in Los Angeles, California now. I spend my days at The Powder Room LA (a salon located in the trendy Silverlake) working as the salon director. I like to say that I’m an artist of many things.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I like anything music, movie, beauty of fashion related things. I’ve got yellow hair so when it gets done at the salon, I always have to show that off, too.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

MorgueHigdon came from a childhood nickname, Morg. I just gave it a dark twist. Higdon is my last name.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I try to stick to the instagram filters or not use any at all. If I have to pick a favorite “other” app, I would choose VSCO or Boomerang.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love Bonnie McKee’s instagram because she posts a mixture of interesting and girly things. Dallas Clayton, an amazing artist posts things that will make my day because I think his art is that brilliant. C0neja, RickCraft, Meandmyhotfriends1 and Basementfox are some of my other eclectic favorites.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Go to Joshua Tree at least once in your life. It’s a different kind of magic putt here.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I like to bring awareness about cool things and making my own sort of art with them.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I did a 3 month stint with Roxbox and I like to feature Manic Panic (tagged) in most of my pictures. Even with codes or special promo, I try my best to make it personal and say it in my own words instead of resorting to robot mode.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Be yourself and show off cool things that you believe in.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love trying new things and there just happen to be a lot of new things to discover. It’s a chance to bring light to things and having an opportunity to create art with brands. What a world we live in!
