Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Minhui Koh @minhuikoh

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a 100% Chinese Singaporean but often mistaken as a mixture of races. I’m studying at Temasek Polytechnic right now, in the course of Early Childhood Studies. I’m basically a full time student, a part time blogger and a part time instagramer.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My topic of interest are about food, fashion and of course, lifestyle! I post most of my selfie pictures on Instagram, sometimes an outfit of the day and from time to time, some advertising posts.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

my Instagram name is basically my full name. I used to create really fancy names which were not related to my real name at all. however, I realized that I should embrace my name even though it sounds really Asian-ish.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I don’t really edit my photos unless the picture is in need of some brightening and sharpening process which I use those from instagrams! The key in my pictures is basically good lighting.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Not really because I don’t believe in inspiring. I believe that each and every one of us is unique and have different ways of unleashing and showing our potential. Hence, I don’t believe in inspiring someone but influencing someone.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Some affordable and amazing local delicacy that I have tried or a place that sells affordable fashionable outfits!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favourite part is probably to share the good thing around. For example, I tried this really good food and I post it on my Instagram, people will believe and have trust in me that when I say it’s good, it really is. Hence, the spirit of sharing is probably my favourite part.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I maintain authenticity by being myself and not saying things which are not true to tarnish or be biased to Brand’s. When it’s good, even if it’s run by someone I dislike, I will definitely still say it’s good.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

My advice will be to be someone else. Someone else not as in literally ask someone to advertise for you but when you advertise, think of it in a point whereby, for example, you’re no longer Minhui, the girl who hates this brand, but you’re MinhuiKoh, the influencer who is supposed to be saying the truth to the fellow instagramers.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like the most when I get to partner with Brand’s that I never come across with or work with because I get to have more exposure and experience in this field. I also like to advertise for brands that have high quality in their product but are not as well-known as other brands who are of the same quality, because then I will have the responsibility to make the unknown brand shine and known to the world.
