Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Minhui Koh @minhuikoh

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m Minhui, better known as Minhui Koh on social media platforms. I come from Singaporean and I am a full chinese, although frequently mistaken as a Malaysian or mixed races.
I’m basically a full time student at Temasek Polytechnics in the course of Diploma in Early Childhood Studies, a huge user of blogger, twitter, instagram, facebook and youtube!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My interests are about food (i love to eat!), fashion, beauty (i live by believing that a girl can never have enough clothes, make up, shoes, bags and accessories) and lifestyle!

I post on Instagram most about my lifestyle such as my selfie photos, outfits of the day and pictures of my food, day, friends and family. Once in a while, I will upload videos too.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My instagram name is actually my full name, but I placed my surname (koh) after my first name (minhui). This is because I find it weird if i am to just put as in the correct order (kohminhui) and it doesn’t sound nice or catchy. Although it is not much better, but I think minhuikoh is better.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Some of the photography apps that I used include photowonder, picsart, camera360 and boomerang.

Usually I will take photos with my default iphone camera app or camera360 (if I feel that I dont look too good on that day), then I head over to photowonder and use the "one click" function at "Beautify" which helps you to do the most minimal photo editing in one click.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I don’t really have an instagrammer that I really like because I don’t really look up to anyone for inspiration or whatsoever. I believe that everyone is different, so you can’t possibly look up to someone for inspiration or hoping to become like him or her because as I said, everyone is different.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Some airbnb resorts that I have personally went and stayed, some cafe food that I have tried and some places that I have been to.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favourite part is being able to experience things or food that we probably won’t even think about trying as a normal student or teenager. For example, I do not normally try this particular brand of snacks at the supermarket but there is once, the brand requires me to evaluate the taste and promote on social media platforms which I felt that I have learnt and tried something new.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I do not have many tips because I am still trying to widen and build my experience on running campaigns but I felt like very often, the brands are too caught up with advertising about the good things or sides of the product and they failed to let the audience know the drawbacks of the product. The mentioning of the drawbacks do not have to be something that is very detrimental which will ruined the sales but it can be something trivial so that it comes off as more realistic and authentic.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

My advice is that although promoting or having sales for the companies or brands is important, I felt that building trust and delivering authentic content is more important. That aside, an original content must be delivered before one can give authentic review about the product.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like best when I am able to have a first-hand knowledge about some things or food or events. For example, I will be able to know that this event is happening even before the others know about it.
