Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Lyndsey Bailey @Thatbaileygal

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m 32, I’m a Certified Pharmacy Technician by day, and a Beauty Blogger/Influencer/Vlogger by night. I was originally born in Kentucky, however I currently live in sunny Southwest Florida.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post about all things: beauty, makeup, skin care, hair care, nails, lifestyle, accessories, and some fashion/style posts. My main posts and passion is beauty.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Bailey is my last name, I was working as an IV Technician (doing sterile compounding) and one of co-workers would always say “Here comes that Bailey Girl.” Before that it was August Rain, I was born in August. I digress, ThatBaileyGirl was already taken, I didn’t want to deviate too far from the original name so gal it became!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use Aviary a lot for my flat lay shots of products. I use Splice to edit and put together my YouTube videos. I also use an app called Airbrush for selfies to blur out my backgrounds to make it look like my iPhone has an awesome auto focus. I try not to edit my original makeup work.
If I edit a flat lay I make sure to zoom in to the picture to make sure the writing on the products is readable? I’ll play with filters and HD to make them clear and bright.
On Splice I use it to “trim the fat” on the rough cuts of my YouTube videos.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love a lot of Instagrammers, my three favorites are Laura Lee, Tati Westbrook, & Serein Wu. They’re on YouTube as well. This may sound strange but I try not to look at the super popular IG pages a lot. Comparison is the their of joy and I don’t want to get sucked in. I have some beauty besties on IG and we’re in contact constantly encouraging, motivating and inspiring each other

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

The Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette baby!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love that people come to me for advice and ask me questions. I stay true to who I am and I think that translates to my audience. I’m no big shot, I’m just a girl like you who happens to have a knack for beauty. I keep it real even if the answer isn’t what they expected/want to hear.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Brands running campaigns: take advantage of influencers! We’re basically free agents or independent contractors. Most of the time we are happy to receive free product, you don’t always have to pay people to promote your brand.
I maintain authenticity because that’s just who I am, I’ve been that way my entire life. I’m not fake, I never will be. I always tell my followers: even if a brand pays me to review their product, I’ll tell you it’s crap if it is.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

That’s numero uno. You can’t go around taking credit for other people’s work. Eventually someon will find out, then all bets are off the table and you lose your opportunity to work with brands.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love testing new products and really putting them to work to see if they do what they claim to do. I also enjoy getting feedback from them, it not only reenorces my talents but helps me grow as well.
