Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Luke Stones @luke.stones

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m Luke Stones, I’m a young up and coming Parkour and freerunning athlete living in Southern England, I’ve been practising parkour for over 5 years now and i wish to do it for the rest of my life. I make videos for Youtube and Instagram as well as take an interest in photography. I’m 16 and still at college studying media. I travel as much as i can, every half term there is i try get out the country for the next biggest freerunning event, where i meet hundreds of people that watch my videos on the internet and we share out passion for the fastly growing sport. I’m sponsored by a clothing company called The Motus Projects and a coaching organisation known as Train Hard Parkour. I also work as an influencer for The Worm App and create slow motion videos to which i post regularly. This Easter i’ll be touring around England visiting all the main parkour parks and meeting the local communities. In summer i’ll also be doing the same, but in America also visiting the Woodward Camp as a pro guest for a week. When i get out of college i hope to be able to live a career out of Parkour and travel around meeting other parkour athletes all around the world.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My main topic of interest is Parkour and Freerunning, i post my videos of me jumping, flipping and flying wherever i am in the world, weather it’s in my local town in Bournemouth or half way across the world. I try to make little edits of clips of my movement linked together, but i also post raw single clips and photos of me in action as well. I’m also into photography and post images that i’ve taken on my travels of landscapes and the people i meet. I also promote my clothing sponsor as much as i can, advertising the clothing and how people can get hold of it themselves.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My instagram name used to be lukeradstones, but i didn’t like the ‘rad’. It was something i created when i was younger because the username lukestones was already taken. I had to find something else to fill it with and i came up with Rad. But a few months ago i finally gave in and changed it after hating it for years. It’s currently luke.stones and it obviously comes from my name.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I edit my photos in lightroom, i take them on my dslr in raw and transfer them to my laptop where i colour correct and grade them editing them to the situation and type of photograph. I then airdrop it to my iphone and upload them to instagram. In editing i will usually add contrast, up the shadows, turn up the clarity and sharpen my photos.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

One instagrammer that i really like is @fabricatedminds , he takes some insane pictures and posts regularly, i love his style of photography and he also posts video updates aswell showing how he obtains the photos and what he gets up to in his day to day life. He’s recently been working with Sixt, a car company in Europe and been producing some amazing content with them including some really insane drone shots and cool day edits.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

One thing i recommend to my instagram is instead of sitting there scrolling through instagram and liking everyones posts thinking i wish i could do these things. They should be getting out their, doing cool things themselves, living life, getting out there, searching for adventure, going travelling and having fun. Yeah it’s good to see what others are doing now and again, but scroll through instagram and use peoples posts as inspiration, us it to fuel your own adventures and do what you love to do.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favourite part about being an influener is that you inspire people, you are making a change to other people lives, and often enough, you get paid to do it. Your just having fun and getting paid for it. Isn’t that like the best thing in the world?

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

My main tip to brands is to give creators freedom, let them use their unique skills and creativity to advertise your product, this will often yield the best results as your getting true creativity. It’s like following the rules, if you give them guidelines on how you want the influencer to advertise your product and give them a way to do it, it’s giving them rules that they have to stick to and these rules kill creativity.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

It’s very important to be original, usually your uniqueness is what people love, yeah you can get inspiration and ideas off other people, but don’t steal their style to be someone who your not. Just be creative, do things how you like to do them and have fun. Include your own unique style and take ideas from other, just don’t take too much where your not true to yourself.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

The best thing about partnering with brands is getting to meet and see the people behind the brands, hearing their stories, where they want to take the brand, how they want to include you to advertise their products and their insights into the company. You also get to have a lot of fun, it gives you a motivation to get out their and do what you love, because once you’ve partnered with one company, your hooked and want to partner with others!
