Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Kimi @kimilove

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m an illustrative designer and work at home mom of 3 and Texas transplant by way of California. I’m a chronic over thinker, coffee drinker, Joanna Gaines enthusiast and spend most of my days in sweat pants & glasses. I’ve got a mean sweet tooth, love color, and frequently dance without abandon to Disney movie soundtracks with my kids, and whole heartedly believe that dogs are people too. If I were a color, I’d be glitter (yes, it IS a color). Mojitos are my jam, and I have what my family calls “the boi-oi-oing gene”….you know where you’re weird and kind of crazy, but in a good way. I’m passionate about encouraging other women that they are beautiful and worthy and enough in all of their beautiful imperfection. I am on this earth to be an encourager and I like to share that encouragement through lettering & design. Oh….and food. I’m passionate about food, too. Like, all of it. ?

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Art and design products, jewelry, food, makeup and healthy motherhood / lifestyle.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It is an old nickname of mine and has been my social media handle since the golden era of MySpace (circa 2003 ?).

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I love Afterlight! I tend to like my photos to be light, airy, and dreamy- so I will adjust the brightness, saturation, and contrast, lower the temperature (to reduce yellowey hues) and then pop into Instagram with a Gingham filter at around 30%! Does the trick every time!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I’m a big fan of @jennakutcher, @our.littlehouse, @elsielarson, and @laurenconrad

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Lettering! I am an 8 year lettering veteran. I worked as a commercial chalk artist & designer for 6 years and after having my twins, I put my talents on the shelf for a while. Once the twins turned a year old, I have gotten back into it and I am reminded how therapeutic and cathartic it really is! Pick up a pen and scrawl out your favorite quote… Penmanship is not dead!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love sharing my excitement about products with other people! It’s so fun to introduce people to what may just be their new favorite item! Likewise, I love getting to try new things. Also, being able to help businesses share their products is very rewarding and I get a great sense of pride from helping!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Recently I have worked with Esteé Lauder, Influenster, Canyon Bakehouse Gluten Free, Treatsie, and many other businesses including small businesses. I don’t “fake it”, if I am excited about something, I will share it- and will not lie just for a company’s sake. I share products I love and feel that my followers will love, and always remain true to myself- including being silly or relating things to motherhood, and in that way I am able to maintain my authentic voice.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I think that if I or any other influencer is “phony” in there presentation of a product or brand, not only will the followers catch on but we as influencers lose our credibility and trustworthy-ness (is that a word? Lol!) it’s so important to bring our authentic point of view to our posts, because our followers know, like and trust us. If we do not, we lose that trust, and also make the product look bad.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love that I get to try new products I may have never known about otherwise. I love sharing new and exciting brands that could improve others’ quality of life, and add value. It also makes me feel good to be able to help companies reach their target market and expand their brand through lighthearted and meaningful posts.
