Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Katherine McNamara @balancedbaking

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a recent university graduate from Canada with a love of baking, creating, decorating, and take pictures of food!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post pictures of all things food! Mostly my baking, like cupcakes, cookies, brownies, but I do try post the occasional healthy meal picture.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I have a love for baking, but I also know that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is so important! I wanted to show people all of my creations, but that’s only part of who I am. I try to eat healthy and keep an active lifestyle (even if it’s off camera). Balance in life is key 🙂

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I usually don’t filter my photos so they maintain a bright, clean look, but I do tend to enhance the brightness and play around with the shadows & highlights using VSCO.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love @sallysbakeblog and @bakerbynature , their pictures are always spot on and so are their recipes!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Go bake some cookies! It’s relaxing, fun, and rewarding (yum!!)

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love hearing people’s feedback or getting messages about baking questions! It’s fun to mingle with people on Instagram who have the same passion and to see their own creative works!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Involve users in the campaign, create something for them to be apart of! Post original content, be creative, and stick to your brand’s image.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality of the picture doesn’t always mean you need a really expensive camera. Try out new lighting, or creating a nice background, either bright or filled with props always helps!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

It’s cool that brands support instagrammers and what they’re passionate about, while users get to help them in return!
